hi listitrist, I'm still trying to finish my school report about the 2008 elections and have been patiently waiting for you to provide more information about Obama's 22 nannies. Did you find that source article by any chance? Anxiously anticipating!

http://rense.com/general14/safestplace.htm Report from 10 years ago showing Swiss as the number 1 gun per capita nation, also with the least violence. This completely refutes everything your saying.

Lets look at a state by state basis and compare notes.

Lets see where kentucy ranks for gun violence.

So, compare those two lists. Maybe gun violence is not directly related to amount of guns? Or do you want me to write you a full research paper. BTW that just took 1 minute. Try looking shit up for yourself.

Why the fuck would I want a tax increase for armed guards at my kids elementary? I don't need a police state.

    "Have fun at prison, kids!"

Maybe we should have armed escorts to get them to school and back home. TAX INCREASE TO PAY FOR IT!

Your source is Jeff Rense??? are you fucking serious?

If you are just trolling me for giggles then well done. If you are actually this stupid, jesus fucking christ.

Jeff Rense is an American conspiracy theorist and radio talk-show host of the Jeff Rense Program, broadcast on US satellite radio via Republic Broadcasting Network (RBN) and Internet radio.[1]

Rense's radio program and website, Rense.com, cover subjects such as 9/11 conspiracy theories,[2] UFO reporting, paranormal phenomena, Holocaust denial,[3] Zionism, tracking of new diseases and possible resultant pandemics, environmental concerns (see chemtrails), animal rights, possible evidence of advanced ancient technology, geopolitical developments and emergent energy technologies, complementary and alternative medicine among other subjects.

Rense's show has been accused of being among "conspiracy-oriented Internet radio shows that often feature antisemites and extremists" by the Anti-Defamation League.[4]

The wiki page shows the US with by far the highest rate of gun ownership, and we know we have by far the highest rate of gun violence. Therefore, gun ownership and gun violence are uncorrelated.

What you conveniently ignore here is that (1) Swiss is not a country, (2) as previously stated at least once in this thread, gun ownership in Switzerland is so high because they are a country with a private militia rather than a standing army, (3) EVERY gun in Switzerland is required to be registered with the state, (4) the Swiss government provides ammunition in sealed packages with strict requirements that they not be opened unless called for militia purposes. Sure they might have guns, but the ammo for them is counted and protected from personal use, and the use of this ammunition and weaponry without authorization is a serious crime with serious consequences.

Notice Chile on the farthest opposite end of that list.

that list suggests that there are two ways for a country to lower gun-related deaths
    1) strong gun laws
    2) be rich.

And there's apparently a synergistic effect between the two.

We've only got one of them covered.

Us is about twice as much as most nations in the EU. Shouldnt they have half the rate of gun violence?

Shouldnt california be way down on the US list because it has a low number of guns per capita? Direct relationship not so obvious?

Did you get through high school math? Do you not understand or accept the possibility of exponential relationships? Your TI-85 graphing calculator should have showed you this.

Not everything in life is "you got half so you should have half of the other thing", Mr. "It's more complicated".

Funny how by reading the stats you and others are drawing the same conclusion that I am pointing out. More guns does not = more gun violence. Many very violent countries have few guns, and some places where gun ownership is very high, have little violence. The true connection between gun violence and guns is very complicated and has much more to do with economic and sociological factors. Trying to implement policy based perceived direct relationships rather than correlated vague relationships is why we have a ton of bad federal policy we are trying to deal with. We don't need more.

Also, if you truly want to be active politically or with any type of policy implementation, you have to consider the reality of implementing said policy. Trying to "disarm" America is completely unrealistic, so to solve this problem of gun violence we really need to come up with some better ideas.

I'm not gonna get into a personal squabble with any of you guys. I do think its funny how the "core" of posters on this message board act like such bullies to people they have never met in person. Why make things personal? You really need to prove to yourself that you are smarter than me?

Oh i see, exponential relationships, so to calculate gun violence you take the amount of guns per capita and square it? Do South American countries not fit into this equation, its more like you take the amount of gun violence and take the square root and you get guns per capita? Do exponential relationship actually work inversely in the southern hemisphere?

Or is it not a fucking direct mathematical relationship?
