I would go with a double magnum which is 3.0L. It is large but still shaped like a 750 so it has a good swingability coupled with severe head trauma inducing braun.

Best wines from top to bottom - Pride Mountain or Darioush
    Best snob quotient - Quintessa
Best think you know wine but you really don't - Silver Oak

I think I already mentioned Silver Oak.
Caymus can do the job too.

    Great question.
I have no idea, but considering you can make wine from just about any grape there must be several hundred.

the only important one however is Tempranillo.

    No.
There are no good affordable ones.
Go with Barbaresco's and Rosso di Montalcino's respectively instead.
Much cheaper and similar style and quality.

I'm not a big fan of white wines, but I rather enjoy Albariņo. What is your opinion of this variety?

    Dave

For my daughter's 21st birthday (which is still a while away) I want to give her a bottle of wine (or champagne/sparkling wine) made in the year she was born (which would be 1993). Can you recommend anything I could buy now and save for the next 7 years that would still be drinkable?

Buy the Marques de Caceres Rose.
With $15 you can buy two.

It's really good with just about anything at the table.
Don;t be afraid of the roses.

Albarino is on the cusp of being the next big trend.
Winemaking modernizaton in Spain (in particular the Rias Baxas area) has made this varietal a serious contender.

Slight floral noted, a bit of nuttiness and nice crisp acidity make it a natural food wine especially with tapas.

I'm a big fan. You can also buy them cheaply from Portugal where it is known as Alvarinho.

I've been interested in Albarino...recommend a good one for me along with the estimated price per bottle.

    Tricky one.
1993 was a veritable washout in Bordeaux which is usually the best longer lived wine to buy for keeping.

I would look to the stickies, especially something like a Tokaji from Hungary or maybe a vintage port. Vintage Champagne might work too, though it is not a strong vintage.

Napa Cabernet from a producer with a good track record in cellaring would be a logical choice but they will be tough to find today.

Valdamor makes a nice wine and is widely available. Prices are about $20.
I would go with just about anything from Rias Baixas region. Prices should range from $12 to $25.
