It’s funny. I never thought about it that way. Looking at the relevance of the radio industry today, I have to agree with…............................ No, I just can’t do it.
I am currently working on my nerve to attend one of these events. I support Rage, and almost anyone on the board, who do something they love.

POP Montreal was actually the catalyst to the name change. Full disclosure: At POP Montreal we were pulled aside by two people who work in music publishing in LA that expressed interest in putting some of our music in television shows or commercials. They did have a few notes for us though. One of them, and and I remember it almost word for word, was this "Your name. You are never, ever going to make it in this industry with that name. It needs to go."
It struck us all, but I am glad they said it. I had considered bringing up changing the bands name before, but I didnt want to insult the other guys, so I didn't. I know a lot of people in Vancouver that have said they have a very hard time taking the band seriously because of our name. A number of people said they think completely differently after seeing us live, but a name makes a very big first impression. While I know Little Wild isn't the best name, a name that may be slightly confusing or forgettable is a lot better than a band name that actively turns off people from your band.
We feel we hit a wall with the name Rags To Radio, and if there was any time to change our name, it is now. We are hoping this new name lets us move past this wall and even though we gained attention in Montreal playing under the name Rags To Radio, we hope those people still follow us as we change our name.
I hope you still like the Little Wild t-shirt you get in the mail sometime in February/March. I think we have some extra Rags To Radio shirts lying around too. I will make sure we send one of those with your package.
I actually like this as a band name quite a lot.
EDIT: And thanks a lot, everyone else! Glad you guys are enjoying the tracks!
If there is a successful band out there called Dr. Dog, ANY band name will work.
I mean anything would be better than Rags To Radio. But Rage, you realize the mistake you're making here, right? When you first come here with that band we offered up a lot of suggestions, among them being "That name is horrible, change it." So now you come back with your new name and the general consensus is, "That name is less horrible but still not good, change it." You have one last time to change your name without confusing the shit out of people while you try and launch the new band again, don't fuck it up.
Here is the thing though, Randy. Everyone has different opinions on different band names. It does appear here that, yes, most people don't think Little Wild is a great band name. However, we have received an overwhelmingly positive response to our band name change in general. We have had a number of people tell us they like Rags To Radio, other people tell us the name is better, but not a great band name, and other people that are head over heals with the band name.
I bet you if I came to the board here and asked for feedback on band names, there wouldn't be a single band name that everyone could agree one. Maybe there would be a name that you thought was great, but there would probably be a number of people that would think it is terrible name.
That is the thing about band names. None of them are that great. Naming bands is a very dumb thing, but it is necessary. For example, Tool. I personally think that is an awful band name. Has that stopped them? No. What about Led Zeppelin? Another terrible band name. Pink Floyd? Pretty bad. A more recent example, Japandroids? Another one that isn't very good. Like I said, band names are a dumb thing, but we all have to live with them.
And yes, Dr. Dog. That is an actively terrible band name, but that didn't stop them.
At least those names don't start with the same word as nine other current musical acts, dickhead. There's a difference between just a subjectively bad band name and a band name that clearly bears a strong resemblance to a number of other acts.
In all fairness though, Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd didn't have 70ish years worth of already taken band names to weed through. Coming up with a name is probably the hardest part about being in a band.
Japandroids may or may not be a good band name, but it distinguishes itself from other band names. It's memorable. Little Wild has two words that are in many other band names. It's not particularly memorable. I agree that it's the main point to be made, and it's not something totally subjective like thinking the name just sounds stupid. The name just lies flat, and I can't help but gloss over it.
