To those that are hip hop fans, any of you patiently still waiting for Jay Electronica's Act II? Been waiting for like 4 years.
If you're looking for some great Krautrock-style drone-based rock, check out Föllakzoid's II. They're Chilean so I guess it's really hierbarock or something (thank you Google translate), but it's completely awesome and hypnotizing nonetheless.
Tomahawk - Oddfellows slays pretty hard. At least for me. I'm not that used to slaying, though.
Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way To Fall is another sprawling, ethereal output.
10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival
10/22: Roman Flugel @ f8
10/25: Moodymann @ PW
11/20: The Drive by Truckers, Sturgill Simpson @ The Fillmore
The ducktails album is great. Not what I was expecting in terms of sound at all but still great.
I've been looking forward to throwing on that Schnauss record. sounds like something I'd enjoy. I'm also looking forward to the release of the collaborative track he did with Tycho.
Boris covering Sometimes? Um yeah ok I'm downloading this right now.
After listening to Hummingbird by Local Natives, i'll admit its a good album that is a very nice listen, but it just doesnt push any boundaries and doesnt have any super big standouts like gorilla manor did after 1st listen. I thought they were a better live band anyways, so I'll have to see how it is live. I think the pitchfork rating sums it up. although good, not the best new music.
Ex Cops' True Hallucinations is an innocent enough little pop album. Soft, shoegaze-y vocals over a variety of different instruments. Nothing that really sticks though.
Black Chamber - Black Chamber is some very nice instrumental, jazzy trip-hop. Highly recommended.

Everything Everything's Arc is pretty stupendous. I am not exactly sure what to call them, as they cover a lot of ground on this release, but "experimental pop" might be fitting for them. Both vocally and musically, I could see comparisons made to Bon iver, TV on the Radio, and Twin Shadow, and a dash of Menomena in the arrnagements. The vocals are extremely strong and frenetic. On the bigger, faster-paced tracks, the instrumentation is dancey, complicated and groove-lade, with an especially impressive bass played. The album does a suffer a bit in sequencing, in that there are moments of incredible energy that stop with a thud as a super snoozy slow track just abruptly materializes. But overall, this is a very strong and very enjoyable sophomore effort.

The new Veronica Falls album Waiting for Something to Happen is really, really great. I LOVED their last album and this is a cut above that. Stronger songs, more varied...awesome record.
YES YES YES YES YES
My Bloody Valentine
We are preparing to go live with the new album/website this evening. We will make an announcement as soon as its up.
New local natives album isn't bad or anything, but it also doesn't keep my attention for its duration. It's all a bit stale sounding to me. I'm sure live these tracks will kill.

new Iceage album is good. short burst but its all great.
The new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album, Push The Sky Away is quite remarkable. This is Nick Cave at his most subdued, however, he still makes every song a spectacle. The composition on the album is both minimal and elaborate, but at all times exquisite. In every single song there are so many subtleties to appreciate, and I am sure as I listen more that I hadn't heard before will come forward. It seems to me that Push The Sky is a reaction to Grinderman and Dig! Lazarus, Dig!, and while I love both of those, I have no complains on the direction in which Cave and The Bad Seeds chose to go on this album.
I highly recommend it.
Man. Nick Cave has made the album to beat at this point in this still very young 2013, in my book. Quaint, gorgeous, haunting, beautiful. Higgs Boson Blues in particular is astonishing.
Dude. For real.
Finishing Jubilee Street is a fucking track as well.
Yeah, and Jubilee Street too. I can't wait to listen to it again and again.
Where were you guys a couple weeks ago or so when Jubliee street came out as a single???

New Nick Cave is solid on first listen. Glad he and his crew are back at it.
New Delphic is utter dogshit. WTF are they doing with this nonsense?! Such a shame, after their great debut a few years back. Whatever.
I'm surprised the new Unknown Mortal Orchestra is getting such little love in this thread. Personally, I like it far better than Lonerism (I know that's a 2012 relase, but they are within 12 mos of one another so...anyway, I think the UMO album is better).
