Anyone looking for cheaper housing should check out AirBnB, just make sure the person you rent form is AirBnB verified and has at least one review. Since I discovered AirBnB, I've only used a hotel twice in the past three years.

Lineup page down for everyone else, or is that just me? Hoping for (not expecting) set times...

They said the flat rates are flat rates, and are not adjusted for peak demand times (normal fares are).

It is definitely tough to find a Uber driver *within SF proper* during any event or holiday, just as it's hard to find a taxi. We're just throwing some other ideas out there as pretty much every form of transit is going to be overwhelmed with the festival crowd.

And yea, Vaseline Groove is absolutely right - worst case, if all the muni stops are mobbed, keep going further west where the lines originate (most of them turn around close to Ocean Beach). I also find that a lot of people either don't know the bus lines further away from the park or are too lazy to walk further.... like the N and 5 are always exceedingly crowded. I was able to get on the 38 right away just by walking further west and further north.

I hope the set times come out and we have something to talk about, otherwise this thread is going to continue to devolve (as it has every year since 2008) into a "where to stay, what to do, how to get around, is SF cool or not, what's the weather going to be like, can I walk, where this and where is that?" discussion. Use the search function, read past comments. Not much has changed. MUNI still sucks, there are still the same amount of bars in the Outer Richmond/Sunset neighborhoods, you'll still want to dress in layers, and you're still going to get overcharged for a crappy room. 5-6 pages every year just about MUNI alone so we can respond to the few folks who don't want to do any research is pure laziness.

The festival is just as much a celebration of the city of San Francisco as it is music. Don't see the issue with asking other like minded people about their favorite experiences outside of the festival. Besides, you seem like the only person who has a problem with recommending places to eat, walk, travel, etc.

I can research SF all day long but what it comes down to is I trust these boardies (whether that's a good thing or bad thing is yet to be seen) to help me make the most out of my SF trip and not turn it into some page out of a tourist magazine.

Stop asking for clam chowder recommendations from Fisherman's Wharf and places to eat in Chinatown, then. (Anchor Oyster Bar on Castro has good clam chowder, and they often serve it to people who are waiting for their table outside cus they are nice).

Plenty of people have been buying Saturday tickets for 180+ on Stubhub. If you think you can get a cheap ticket near festival time, then you have the option of getting your money back.

What's your point? Tickets will be offered for much cheaper week of on CL by SF residents etc who can't make it. That's how it always is.

It seems like there is also a lengthy discussion each year about not having this conversation every year.

my guess is phoenix closing the twin peaks stage against NIN. Like the strokes did against Furthur

Phoenix against Nine Inch Nails would be the lamest conflict ever. They need to put someone shitty like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as the closer of that stage.

I agree with Phoenix against NIN. YYY's into NIN makes perfect sense and Phoenix and NIN are different enough that there would be less of a crossover in demographics

Phoenix was on the main last time they played wouldn't that be kind of a blow to be demoted to twin peaks

This thread is a broken record (even saying it's a broken record is a broken record thing to say). In other news, I spent a substantial amount of time listening to Rhye yesterday, and I don't think this ish is getting nearly enough buzz. This is fantastic. They better be before The National / Macca, they've jumped to my top three for Friday.

It'd be tempting and a tough call, but sunset doesn't mean as much at Outside Lands as it does at Coachella, to me. Since, y'know, you probably won't see the sun. I'd be content with a 3 or 4pm slot.
