Why are we focusing so much on pretty large add-ons? Are we expecting them?
I thought the last year or two's add-ons have been only lineup filler at the bottom of the poster and that's what we should expect for the last 7-10 names, but please correct me if I'm wrong...
The only way we get a large add on is if ticket sales are low. That being said, fingers crossed for Queens of the Stone Age.
COACHELLA- 99, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 (wk 1 & 2), 13 (wk 1 &2), 14 (wk 1 & 2)
Ranger Dave said he couldn't make QOTSA happen on his Reddit AMA.
Yonder, xx, alt-j...
i know that alt j is in japan that weekend, but the schedule i saw for them showed them playing that sat/sunday, w/ friday wide open, and a canada show the weekend before. i just imagined a quick osl appearance on friday before flying out to japan. i also was unaware of any other california dates in august.
TEED, TPA, or tipper would make great mid card electronic add ons. some hometown heros i'd like to see would be the shook twins or medium troy on the bottom of the line up. another STRFKR appearance would be great. anyone from oddfuture i'd be stoked about. eoto would be great. Iron horse is picking on modest mouse up in oregon 2 weeks beforehand at northwest string summit. i dunno, think of some possible low cards and throw them out there, if only to introduce me and others to some good low card music.
additions were announced on or around May 18th last year....
Coachella 07 (the introduction), 08 (the bands), 09 (the documentary), 10 (the people i came with), 11 (the relationship test... we passed), 12 (whatever the weather, Dirty Epic forever), 13 (the year of the troll)

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down - Alt. Folk Rock artist from San Francisco.
Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but Avett Brothers may be a strong possibility for an add on. Playing in WA on Friday Aug. 9th, and they've never played OSL. Bottlerock seems like the only reason to rule them out.
Shannon and the Clams - The Chapel - SF Feb 1st
DJ Shadow (DJ set) - The Independent - SF Feb 22
TOOL - Bill Graham Civic - SF March 12th
Sleep - Cocoanut Grove - Santa Cruz March 22nd
Neutral Milk Hotel - The Fox Oakland - Oakland April 9th
The Knife - The Fox Oakland - Oakland April 16th
A couple of things I learned from looking over the Bonnaroo schedule (for people that don't know OSL and Roo are both put on by Superfly):
Paul McCartney and James McCartney were not playing on the same day. I know someone on here thought that they might play the same day and since we knew James McCartney was playing on Saturday so would his dad. This is not necessarily the case.
Trombone Shorty opened the main stage one day. I expect that Trombone Shorty would open the main stage at OSL as well.
I hope that we get our schedule as early as Roo put out theirs because the more time to game plan the better.
Also, I saw Dumpstaphunk last weekend at Jazz Fest playing a tribute to PFunk and that shit was crazy off the hook. I would highly recommend seeing them at OSL if you like horns and double bass.
I hope Trombone really doesn't open the main stage. I very rarely make it there in time, no matter how hard I try, and he is one of my must sees if I make it this year.
OSL does the set times like Coachella. I mean they give you more then two days, at least a week, to figure it out but they release them closer to the festival.
And you really should try to get out there early at least one day. When I did that for Charles Bradley a couple years ago it was so nice to be able to get all the way up to the front for his main stage set. And then he was like 30 minutes late.
I do try and get there early. If it was just me I would be there but I go with my brother and his soon to be wife and one of them always seems to fuck it up and we get there later then planned. I mean we still probably get there around one but that still makes us miss the open stage acts.
it's not unusual to go from a later time at a smaller stage to an earlier time at a larger stage between years at music festivals.
