I've done the e-ticket the last couple years. Just print 3 out (one for each day). Rip it up when I enter the festival and never have to worry about losing it.

It's tough to compare Coachella 2010's overcrowding to OSL 2012's. The difference between the two is that OSL's bottlenecks (of which there are a few) were painfully slow to navigate through, particularly those between the main stage and Sutro stage. No matter how much "open" space they add to OSL 2013, those bottlenecks will remain (unless they tear down some trees, which SF Parks won't let them do).

Coachella 2010 was, in its entirety, one giant bottleneck.

I wonder how many pissers they're adding in addition to another 10k people.

Did anyone else consider the possibility that because they will be live streaming the festival this year, on multiple stages, that they will add video screens to the other stages? Because usually what's fed onto the screens is what's shown at home at other festivals...

They better be adding more because when I was thinking about how crowded it was, I think thinking about the lines at the portapotties -- they were long.

It's not the overcrowding that's bad. It's all the morons with their fucking 8x8 blankets that think that they own the entire spot because they put a piece of cloth on it. I'm praying they finally ban those things. It really does cause a lot of issues.

Yeah, it's a different sort of crowding and admittedly a different sort of crowd. I mean, the lines at the portas are so fucking long because the winos treat that area as some sort of social gathering and aren't really paying attention or keeping things speedy. I mean, OSL is full of people that are there to spread out blankets and socialize and chat with their friends throughout everything and everywhere.

That's another major issue with this crowd is they never shut the fuck up and listen. They're to busy talking about how great their city is and how organic everything is.

Eh, I'd say the majority of the wino talkers aren't even SF residents, but from the surrounding areas.

I spent way too much time in Wine Lands. I thought by bringing in a crapload of vodka, it will help me stay away from the wine. That plan failed on me.

with the added 10k people, i'm doing VIP this year. having to worry about pissing yourself while seeing no line at the VIP pissers was enough.

and if the blankets aren't bad enough already, imagine the day Macca plays.........fuck.

This is definitely a problem. Alabama Shakes set last year was ruined by overcrowding, non-stop talkers, and the band not being loud enough.

Did the vodka trick last year and it worked like a charm. Less beer/wine meant less bathroom trips and saved a ton of cash. Whoever posted that how to get vodka into unopened water bottles video, cheers!

This might have to be the answer. Does anyone know how much VIP was last year?

Any chance of steely Dan playing? That would be original and fit perfectly with outside lands

only reason i'm considering it is because i remember it being fairly reasonable last year. much cheaper than Coachella, which I would never buy VIP for.

no lines/viewing platforms/wristband instead of ticket

The year I did VIP at Roo it was definitely worth it. But that was an in and out all day situation so you could get back to the RV and rally for the night shows.

My only issue would be that all my friends that weren't in VIP gave me shit about not hanging with them. I have a feeling that would happen again.

Thanks for the quick reply on price, Nathan.

$450 to me sounds great considering we already pay $350 for Coachella GA. definitely doing VIP at OSL this year.

Pshh. Well, SF is pretty great and organic foods is quite nice compared to processed.

Right when I get in, I like to lay down a blanket with friends and eat our sheep, cow, and goat cheeses de jour, with our dry aged port salami, along with our Napa wine and craft beer to shake off the hangover from the night before. After that we pack it up for the rest of the day and move around. Whats wrong with that? Sounds fucking lovely doesn't it?

You mean what you've been saying about last year?

And btw, the total charge for early birds back in 2009 was about $231....not much different than this year.

For some reason, the people sitting around on blankets talking to their friends don't really bother me at this festival. It's actually just nice to hang out with your friends through sets you're not as interested in -- and most people are courteous enough to set up their blankets really far back. Move closer to the stage, if you don't want to be around it.

Yeah, Alabama Shakes was a cluster last year. It didn't help that the entrance lead into it the stage.

For me, though, 2010 was the worst for crowds at the OSL's I've been too...that was a mess.

I don't know, maybe I've been too enough Hardly Strictly's that I don't get too upset about most of the annoyances at OSL.
