I've never understood that complaint, and I'm definitely on the Cara/Heidi side of respectful concert behavior. Singing along is entirely acceptable, and at some sets encouraged.

100% agreed. Some of my favorite music moments have involved sing-alongs.

Yup. Another favorite memory was at Radiohead's last show in AZ when the crowd was singing along with "Lucky."

Okay, good. We're eliminating which male board members were there during NIN and are approving of sing-along behavior.

Man who gave a sideways glance to Amy during said sing alongs: if you are out there, speak up. At least confirm that it was because she was singing along and not for any other reason. Lift the burden of deep shame off of her shoulders.

8/30: Peaking Lights @ The Chapel
9/3: Bear in Heaven @ The Independent
9/11: Tomas Barfod @ The Rickshaw Stop
    9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
    9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
    10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
    10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
    10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival

Amy had a rough day on the boards. We are just helping her out some. I'm sure the guy just wanted her to shut the fuck up.

Hopefully no on Green Day, but Mumford is a possibility. Soundgarden is not big enough to headline OSL, IMO. They could fit in the Foo Fighters spot in the line-up.

Does Tool have anything new coming out? Or are they doing the same show they have had for the past bunch of years. They did headline Bonnaroo awhile back so I guess its possible.

Billy Joel is a reasonable idea. He was at Jazz Fest this year. Maybe Lionel Richie since he is headlining ACL this year, but I don't know if he is big enough either.

As far as the talkers situation, I didn't think it was nearly as bad this year, but I made more of an effort to get up closer to the stages so that the sound and views were better. This was a lot easier to do this year because I wasn't shlepping around with a group of 8 to 10 people. My friends call me the cruise director because I lead everyone through the day but that ish gets tiring and time consuming. I know I'm coming off like a dick, but honestly I had a much better viewing and listening situation running around with just my wife and not a huge group of people, that I might just try to ditch my friends at fests from here on out.

The only time I had a problem with the crowd was during the National's set and the brief time I was in the VIP area for Macca. Where last year the talkers were terrible for Jack White, Foo Fighters, Alabama Shakes, and Beck.
I could see Soundgarden if as they did with NIN, they have a Phoenix-like band opposite them at Twin Peaks.

I wouldn't think of Lionel Richie as an OSL headliner, maybe in the Hall & Oates category...I noticed a couple days ago he does have an HP date coming up.

    The Eagles a possibility?

Definitely. I'm all for people singing along and do it myself as often as I can. And, yeah, what Gribbz said about great sing along memories. No problem at all with people engaged in the show enough to sing along.

The sing-a-long rule is this: never get in a scenario where you are so loud or so alone in singing along that you are actively competing with the artist for the attention of those around you.

Maybe the guy was glancing at Amy thinking, "Good God, what is that monstrosity?"

I'm happy to report that El Pulpo is alive and well. I don't know where you heard about it being dismantled. maybe temporarily - I'm sure they dismantle it every time they transport it somewhere.

this in no way affects the amount of shame on that poster artist. shame on him/her.
