I saw that posted on FB and quickly booked a hotel before prices get jacked up.
Still not sure if I'd be going, though.

Do hotel prices really get jacked up though for this? I guess maybe in the Sunset but I feel like since it's a major city compared to Indio that Hotels aren't really going to be changed all that much from it.

Also because of the amount of travelling for wedding I have this upcoming year just like Coachella this is in doubt for me this year. If I can swing a festival this would be cheaper option for me then Coachella.

I was really just erring on the side of safety. I also wanted to make sure that I actually have a place to stay within walking distance to the park. The hotel next door to the one I booked is already sold out for that weekend.

Yes hotel rates get jacked up but if you reserve early they are still normal prices. Its not like Indio where this is the only thing going on and all the hotels have the date saved way in advance. But as rooms are being reserved, rates will go up just due to demand.

Nice to see they are "on the ball".

Now that I have moved out to the Sunset, I'm pretty much guaranteed to be going. Probably will be getting early bird tickets and hope they improve on the solid line-up from last year.

I really want to make it to OSL this year. I have yet to experience it.

But I'm trying to convince the fiance that Burning Man is a good idea, so far it's not working.

Yeah my guess is The Killers as on of the headliners also. I also think if there is a major fest that MMJ would headline it would be OSL. Played a 90 minute sub headlining last time. Also The Black Keys only sub headlined last time so they could be a possibility. I'm not even going to try and pretend what either of the bands future plans are though.

one thing, guaranteed in the music business, is that the black keys are touring in some capacity.

Yeah, MMJ would make a lot of sense and they did play The Greek Theater which is an APE venue the last time through. I think Green Day makes sense too if they want to have a large Bay Area headliner again.

Unless last year was an anomaly, the headliners are going to be bigger than MMJ and the Killers. Fucking Foo Fighters, Jack White, and Beck were subheadliners this year. There's no way they are going to downgrade that much where the Killers would headline. I could see them subheadline or maybe close out twin peaks. MMJ same thing.

The headliners this year were Neil Young & Crazy horse, Metallica, and Stevie Wonder. Those are all way bigger bands than MMJ and the Killers.

I'm very aware of the headliners this year, I was there. However how many headlining bands of that statue are going to be available or not recycled? Yes you would love bands of that magnitude every year but if they aren't available then what do you do? I mean it sounds like they have had at least one headliner for some time now so that I'm assuming will be a super big name but we will see for the rest. I don't even like The Killers but them closing the Twin Peaks is crazy talk. Worst case scenario for them is playing the Foo Fighters spot, 70 mins Lands End stage.

I love the way you think, but you're also crazy if you think SY would be able to headline something this big. I'd be right up front and I'd probably lose my voice and my sanity like the last few times I saw them, but they're not headliner material.

Green Day would make sense, and I'd watch them the same way I stayed for all of Metallica. Fleetwood Mac? I could see that as a possibility. Would someone like Blondie be doable? Tom Petty? Do they have the money to swing the Rolling Stones (I mean, they got Neil AND Stevie AND Metallica last year)?

    They need to get Neurosis.

Rolling Stones was the first thing I thought of for headliner.

    5/12 - Acid Mothers Temple - Casbah
    5/13 OoOoOo - Soda Bar
5/19 Black Angels / Hanni El Khatib - Belly Up
    5/29 Junip - Troubadour
    5/30 John Talabot - Echoplex

there is absolutely no way The Killers would play the Twin Peaks stage...i can only imagine the clusterfuck that would occur if they did

I can definitely see Kid Cudi closing out Twin Peaks one of the nights next year

    3/13-3/17 - SXSW - Austin
    4/11 - The Shouting Matches - Pappy & Harriets
4/12-4/14 - Coachella Music & Arts Festival - Empire Polo Grounds

Fleetwood Mac playing San Jose in May pretty much rules them out, but I think they would have been a logical choice.

As for Neurosis, OSL has only had two metal bands ever play, those being Mastodon and Metallica. I just don't see them starting to book a band like Neurosis, but I would love to be proven wrong.
