I try to see the world through different views & festivals are about the best place and mindset to do this in. That being said I have purchased my pass as well. This will be my first Roo in 5 years. I'm really starting to fret the idea of the decathalon that is the Roo and being able to keep up with it. I think it will be well worth it and it will be one to remember. That being said I can't wait to see Swans late night!

Yeah, it's really really dirty there, and are tons of ppl from other states esp the East coast. I got a Phish'e vibe last year (hacky sacks and glow sticks), but maybe that's cuz they were headlining. The main stage, and sound system is killer, but the smaller stages have no video, and the covers obstruct view for most of the crowd, so its mostly an audio event. The best thing about 'Roo' is the lack of a curfew, and massive group yoga sessions. Roo is definitely a bigger bang for your buck. I will go (back) to see Bjork if she don't do Outside Lands <fingers crossed>.

Roo is a place where you could walk up to 98% of the people and ask and receive a hug. Coachella, I would say 30% tops.

My kids don't consider it being "dragged along." They had a terrific time last year, and can't wait until we go this year. They are really excited for Blur, Tame Impala, and Phoenix.

I didn't even watch the video. But if you're judging the festival based on the attractiveness of a small subset of its attendees, then you are a horrible person.

I have to disagree with apostle. The crowds and festivals are completely different

Did you even read/comprehend my original post or are you always just completely fucking unaware of everything happening outside of your own head? My comment wasn't directed at the festival. It was directed at the video. You twat.

Yeah, I totally agree that the festivals are completely different. I was just talking specifically about vibe. Which depends on what you consider "the vibe"...haha.

The weather there was not bad when I went there in 2009. There was a storm Thursday night that gave us some rain and there were campground tornado rumors (which were completely unfounded), and as the weekend went on, it got a bit hot, but it was not as hot as Coachella by ANY means the entire time we were there.

2011 was stupid hot. Last year was beautiful until Sunday, when it rained on and off all day.

Weather is definitely the major year-to-year X factor of bonnaroo. People who went in 2009 and/or 2012 think the weather is perfect, people who went in 2007 think it's always a total dust storm, and people who went in 2010 and 2011 think it's unbearably hot. The most important thing is just to put a little thought into preparing for the possibilities. Kind of like Glasto in that way.

The late nights is what makes Bonnaroo so special. Raging out until 6am is awesome. I would never do roo without an rv though, trying to sleep is in a tent is pure death. If you want to see any of the headliners good luck with seeing them with 60k other people.

and the people at roo at 100 times better than at coach, people are there for the atmosphere and music, not to be seen like at coach...

If you have camped on a regular beach or the mountains, tent camping at the Roo is essentially the same. It's what you make it. The big difference is; when you wake up and go outside, it's more like a boyscout camp or the military. With a party brain. Sure I love the grass on the Polo field, but I don't sleep on the ground. Haven't seen any bears lately (ala Waka), very few bugs (PETA give us a week anyway), if you jump up at home during night when you hear the slightest sound, you will be like a Mexican jumping bean (is that still PC?), sorry for the ramble of really not being helpful. If you have camped at Coachella, the Roo won't beat you down (much .... cr**** yes LN (late night IS the Roo)
