What's the biggest difference between Bonnaroo and Coachella? Atmosphere? I've been told that Coachella is a little less gritty than Bonnaroo. Some people like that and some people don't. Does that sound right?
Coachella actually has grass, no dust, no humidity and isnt totally in the middle of nowhere. Coachella actually has 'art', roo does not. I mean what do you really wanna know? That coachella actually reinvests into the surrounding areas unlike roo where they do not give a shit?

lol wow you couldnt be more wrong.
well except for the middle of nowhere and humidity part.
1) both the arch and the clocktower are huge pieces of art that change every year. and the other art around the festival stays the same (bobbleheads etc) so it kinda loses its touch.
2) Just fucking LOL at coachella reinvesting and roo not giving a shit. thats one of the most ignorant things ive read on this forum. if you want me to emberass you I'd be glad to post all the things Bonnaroo has done for Coffee Co. and the city of Manchester
3) out of the 11 years of Bonnaroo, only 2 have had bad dust problems (2007, 2011). they have added more grass to try and help this, but should it not rain for a week leading up to the festival, the ground is super dry and causes the dust. Hell this year there wasnt a problem with dust at all, and absolutely zero humidity with temperates in the 70s and 50s at night.
Now as far as differences. Bonnaroo is more of a marathon than Coachella. I'd say 85% of the patrons actually camp, so the campgrounds are HUUUGE! This of course leads to dirtier people and more wooks. As far as music goes, Coachella always has a great lineup for whats hot right now, and what is about to be hot. Bonnaroo is more geared towards soulful acts and legends. as well as more americana and folk bands.
Also, Bonnaroo shows start at noon and last till 6-7am. Unlike Coachella where everything ends around 1am. At Bonnaroo the headliners are unopposed so the crowds for these headliners are enormous and quite the experience. then after the headlining show each night there is what we call "Late Night" and all of the tents and Which Stage have shows all night until the sun rises.
Oh, and we can drink beer when and wherever we want to.

^ordering beer at 6am when the sun is rising and music is still playing is as festival as it gets.
I considered doing Bonnaroo last year but by the time the lineup came out I had already made unchangable EDC plans. I want to do Roo 2013 but I lucked out with Glastonbury tickets and probably can't swing both next year. If Glasto falls through ($ and PTO concerns) I would love to make next year my first Bonnaroo.
Roo lineups are usually pretty "meh" for my personal tastes (that's why 2012 with Radiohead would have been ideal) but I feel the need to experience it once and knock it off my bucket list. 2013 or 2014 for sure.
