The site is being overloaded with traffic, this might be the year this thing sells out. Then again, I have no idea about the capacity this time around.
It's at a ranch this year, which is super weird... but it might end up being a nice reprieve from downtown traffic. Time to book a nearby hotel!
Awesome, does that mean you're going too?![]()
I'm telling you guys, it's the perfect post-Coachella comedown. April is even more amazing with this as a bookend.

A 3 day pass is $120.
Wow, their website is so effed up at the moment. But I was able to get some more info:
For the first time in our 6 year history Austin Psych Fest will be held at a completely outdoor venue. Carson Creek Ranch is a scenic 58 acre ranch nestled on the banks of the Colorado River just five minutes from downtown Austin, TX.
The event will be held rain or shine. We look forward to presenting the festival in a beautiful, natural environment, and to create the best sound, lighting and overall festival experience yet.

How awesome of a music city is Austin that it not only supports multiple festivals, but they all seem to be growing/thriving?
Has anyone been to Carson Creek Ranch before? The location is a HUGE selling point for me (on top of a killer line-up).

Amazing initial lineup. I just worry that if I went it might get kind of tiresome, with it all being the same genre more or less. Psychedelia is one of my favorite genres for sure, but after like an hour on Spotify I'm ready for something different. And it would suck to get that feeling after going out of my way to attend a festival like that.

Jesus that lineup is ridiculous. Time to start saving $$$. This is gonna be fun.
The site is up and running, was able to complete my purchase today. There was some weird error dialog box that popped up but it wasn't anything serious.
I would say last year had about 2000 or so... maybe 2500, tops. Even though they are having this outdoors and on a ranch this year, I couldn't imagine them doubling capacity, I would expect along the same 2k number this year. Just a guess.
EDITED TO ADD: I went through my pictures from last year and I think maybe 2k is too big of a number.
I have not, but from what I see online it looks nice and roomy. And this sounds interesting:
The main 20 acre pasture includes a 30x40 covered pavilion and has a beautiful grove of pecan trees along the banks of the Colorado River, where we also have a natural amphitheater set into the banks overlooking the Colorado.
They do a good job of diversifying the daily lineup/schedule, though, so you don't get that "same-y" feeling hanging above your head from act to act. And it's definitely not all Psych all over the place. I mean, a couple years ago the transition from Crystal Stilts to A Place to Bury Strangers to Tobacco was really refreshing, the same for The Oh Sees, Meat Puppets, BJM trio to end the fest this year. Especially with two stages going on, there's no time to be bored.

Awesome info, Fourth. I like how they have non-psych stuff on these line-ups (Black Lips last year, White Fence this year, etc.). I see that they're announcing "many more" acts in January. How many bands are usually added? Also, how many stages are there?
Also, here a few pics of the ranch:
The dirt you see here is where one of the stages will be (I'm pretty sure):
Here's where the amphitheater style seating will be for the aforementioned stage:

As long as we're demanding more "Black" bands be added, I could definitely see Black Moth Super Rainbow there next year.
I would say they will add anywhere from 15-25 more bands by the time it's all said and done. Last year they were just under 60 bands total. Saturday has been by far the busiest day, action usually doesn't start until late afternoon on Friday and Sunday, whereas Saturday will probably be slammed 1PM to 1AM. I'm curious about the noise ordinance rules of this new place... especially since the airport is pretty damn close.
In the past there have only been two stages, which falls in line with the ranch's claims to have the pavilion and amphitheater setup.
And nice job finding those pics of the ranch grounds "in construction"! I was looking for something like that to scope it out for myself.![]()

Nice. Who were some of the additions last year? I think Black Lips were one of them, yeah?
