I wonder if the lineup will drop tomorrow. I', pretty sure that I'll go based off of these three leaks.

Do festivals ever announce lineups on Fridays? Seems like a bad day to do it and APE are pretty consistent with their mid-week lineup drops for OSL and TI. I would think next Tuesday or Wednesday to be more likely.

Hopefully, they offer a second round of early bird tickets after these artist leaks because I'll buy passes. I just wasn't sure what to expect. Last year they had some great bands and some not so great bands.

But this festival in particular is more than the sum of the artists playing, don't you think? I thought the art and culinary offerings added a lot last year and I can't wait to see how they step up their game in those areas, as well. Personally, I can't wait for this again. I bought presale tickets. The three acts booked so far are on high on my "wanna see/must see" list. Even though I am local, my friends and I (some from out of town) have booked two rooms at the El Cortez so that we have a "party base" within the festival grounds.

Also, someone posted on the LiB FB that they saw a billboard in town saying "Lineup coming in 5 days." Meaning Sunday or, more likely, Monday. I haven't seen this billboard myself so I cannot attest to whether or not it even exists. I don't see it coming out today on a Friday, so Monday would be nice.

Hey, I guess getting a room is a good idea because the grounds really do suck - asphalt everywhere. Don't get me wrong, the art is really cool and I suppose the food is too, but I'm really there for the music. The nice thing about almost every other festival is that there is grass to sit down on and claim as your "party base." I'd like to see AM and Alt J and I don't mind Tycho at all, but I'm not sure how you're suppose to dance to that.

Hah, Arctic Monkeys is much more dance-able at this point than Tycho, that's for sure. I agree with you on it ultimately coming down to the music, but I also just really enjoyed the atmosphere and novelty of being at a fest downtown. Didn't hurt that I was pretty well smashed because we found a way to sneak packaged booze in (and figured out to buy more at the gift shop). That asphalt was a huge factor in booking the room. We were DEAD on our feet after Sunday last year. It's so much harder on the feet, legs, and back than Coachella and the grass. The only way I can imagine doing 3 days this year is with MUCH more downtime.

Who were some of your favorites last year? I'd have to go with Beck, Janelle Monae, and Robert Delong as stand outs. I left J5 early to get to JM on time and I don't regret that choice one iota.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I went solely for Vampire Weekend. I really enjoyed the album and was excited to see them, they remind me of a young Violent Femmes. But, I got there early for J5 which was great. I thought about sneaking over for Janelle Monae, but I was enjoying J5 too much to leave. Then I caught Danny Brown and he was really good despite the fact that the sound system on that stage was terrible - I play music louder in my car. I'm not the biggest fan, but of course the Killers were fabulous!

Naw but really portugal the man, Alabama shakes, capital cities, purity ring and big gigantic were probably my favorite. The killers were surprisingly good as well.

The food and alcohol selection at this festival is really great, better than any other festival I've attended. (two chellas and osl one year.)

Alabama Shakes were very good. I liked the first half of Big Gigantic's set, but left when the 2nd half descended into total brostep. I had never heard of them before so they were a pleasant surprise. I kinda feel like, as a local, I have to go and support this every year. After being here for almost 16 years, just the fact that something like this exists in its current form is a marvel.

Agree with everyone on The Killers (gulp) being killer and the food and bevvy selections being top notch ... and I don't normally eat at festivals. Plus, you can walk a block outside the festival in any direction and get waited on in a sit-down restaurant if you want.

Yeah you can get a pretty nice meal for cheap in downtown casinos. We stayed at the golden nugget which was walking distance from the venue. It was cool to grub out in the downtown casinos for breakfast and late night drunk shenanigans. After the festival the griffin was my favorite bar. Closest thing I'll get to the POWERHOUSE at a festival.

Lulz. I will be at the Griffin then. Just need to steer clear from those evil slots.

    Why do you say that?

Edited to say I think its likely as well, but wondering what your rationale is?

With J5 last year and the Roots this year somebody at LiB loves hip hop music and I ain't talking about that gangster shit. Outkast is the most successful artist in this genre and since they are playing virtually every festival, it would be a crying shame if these guys didn't book them.

Gotcha. I think its likely because APE just booked them to headline Treasure Island the weekend before in SF so seems likely they would book them for LiB as well.

Since I'm bored I'll go more into detail about "the griffin." Here's what I remember from it.

We went in after the festival on Saturday night I believe, just hammered off our asses from drinking all day. It's dark as fuck with firepits inside. You can also smoke in there. I remember there being a solid beer selection for reasonable prices. My three buddies and I went and sat down at a table with our beers. We literally say there for 30 minutes and nobody said shit to each other. Finally one of my buddies asked me wtf we were doing. at that point I noticed some girl at the bar had the nicest ass I've ever seen. I got up and started talking to her for a while. I don't remember what my drunken game sounded like but it was probably terrible. I went back to our table after a while and some old gross fat bitch who was all tatted up came to our table. I don't remember what the conversation was about but I jokingly said that we were heading back to our room to have an orgy and she said she was down and wanted in. She really wanted to fuck my buddy but she was way too gross. After that we left the bad and went to go gamble for a bit. There was also some shady yakuza looking Asian dudes at this table next to us. I don't know what their deal was but I didn't want to piss them off. They looked like they meant business. When we left there was a bar fight going down at the entrance.

anyways, if you want good cheap beer, fat old std filled bitches hitting on you, some yakuza present and witness a bar fight. Go to the griffin after the shows.

My experience at The Griffin a month ago was very different. It's a clone of the Los Feliz location in L.A. Overpriced beers, trendy douche bag clientele. I didn't like it.

I forgot that OK Go actually makes music to accompany their music videos. Probably because it's not very good.

I saw OK Go a few years ago at some free beach event with Switchfoot of all bands. They actually put on a decent show. They don't do the treadmill antics on stage anymore though.

I guess KROQ is doing a lineup announcement at 10? Their site has a contest posted and lists Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys as doing headline performances. Lineup is shaping up very nicely.
