Huge yes to: Todd Terje, Disclosure, Moon Boots, T.E.E.D., Soul Wax, John Talabot.

Flume, Com Truise, Aeroplane, Purity Ring, Wild Nothing, The Magician, Amtrac, Chris Malinchak, Clasixx would also be cool.

So this is just another wishlist thread disguised as a "genre" right?

Either way, I do support most of these acts being on the lineup.

I don't know anything about Nu-Disco, but the internet tells me this new Lindstrom album I'm enjoying is Nu-Disco, so I could very much see myself getting down to him on the Polo.

In case you can't tell, I'd like to see Grum on the lineup because Grum is fucking awesome.

Is this your first exposure to Lindstrom?

Yes Grum (new album on it's way). Yes Lindstrom (new album is awesome). Yes Body Language (been playing a lot recently).

I actually think that the Sahara has a good chance of being a lot more diverse this year than last. '11 had a bit of variety (Sven Vath, Erick Morillo, Shpongle, Sasha). I think that the reason for the lack of diversity last year is that GV wanted to ensure they would sell out 2 weekends, so they brought in a bunch of really big names that they knew would move tickets. I think this year we will still see a lot of those big names, but they don't have any fear of not selling out both weekends so they will bring back in some different stuff.

Unfortunately, I also don't think we'll be seeing live instruments back in there. To the best of my knowledge, other than MODESELEKTOR, all of the dance acts that played in the Mojave the past few years have performed with live instruments. I think that this is as much for logistics as it is because the music is stylistically different than what has been in the Sahara. Recently, almost every act that plays after sunset has their own fancy light set up. It is probably way easier for the people working the stage to know that even though they'll have to load and unload all of these different light rigs, they won't have to worry about anything else except for whatever equipment these people are using to DJ, so anyone with live instruments gets sent over to the Mojave to keep things running smoothly.

I think so... don't tell me we actually saw him together already?

Dave tells me he thinks he's already played Coachella.

Nah, but he's been rather prominent for like 5 years now. What I've heard from the new album feels kind of like a watered down version of his stuff. Not that that should stop you from liking it, just that you should really check out Where You Go I Go Too and It's a Feedility Affair. I don't think he's played Coachella, but I could be wrong. He's well due though.

Yeah I'm not as up as I should be, I sometimes don't bother listening to new music until I'm absolutely bored with my current playlist.
I'll check the others out. As far as Smalhans, I like Ra-ako-St, Faar-I-Kaal and the closer Va-Fle-R... the rest I'm a little iffy on. But it's Va-Fle-R that brings back the memories. In my opinion this is similar to what trance was like in the early 90s before it got cheesed out.

Give Grum the Breakbot slot in the Sahara. I would be there. Pretty fucking cheesy stuff at times, but I can't help but want to dance to the majority of his music. His remix of David Bowie's "fashion" is great.

I think Drinkey could contribute some good, quality suggestions in this thread.

    I do have suggestions!

here are some recent acts that would be fucking awesome in the Gobi, kind of all over the place genre-wise:

    Beat Connection

    Dream Cop

    brothertiger

Baths (who should have some really interesting full band stuff in 2013)

    Light Asylum

    I can contribute more later

8/23-24/14 FYF Fest - Expo Park //8/25/14 Nine Inch Nails - Hollywood Bowl // 9/6/14 Elvis Costello & Ben Folds - Hollywood Bowl

Light Asylum would be great for a night set in the Gobi. As would Trust ...

God PLEASE bring Trust to Coachella! Their set at Moogfest was a giant sweaty dance party! And that album of theirs is too good.

Good points, I hope you're right about the Sahara Tent. It was pretty brutal last year even coming from someone who doesn't mind a little house here and there. It seemed like such an outlier compared to the rest of the whole "experience" in 2012.

Makes sense about the Mojave. A Live setup vs. a DJ setup probably makes for a completely different stage.

And if that request is for Miami Horror DJ set then God no to that as well.

Easily the two worst performances I have seenin 2012 are those two

That's the second time I've heard Com Truise is bad live. What specifically was bad about it?

Bland, flat, uninteresting. I don't know why seeing him once irritated me SO much. But it did.

All of these, and his show seemed like it had no flow. Really long breaks between songs, never really went anywhere. I might even say it was lacking effort.

Miami Horror, Bag Raiders, Digitalism, and all the other electronic band acts should not be playing DJ sets at festivals. It's like buying a ticket to Coachella and then staying home and watching it on Youtube. A potentially awesome time thrown away in favor of something very average. It's just not the same.
