    Red face QUESTIONS

    Hey,

Me and my sister are thinking about going next year but since were from Europe, then we have no idea how all this works. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone will answer :-) Is it safe to camp? If so, how is it? Is it possible that someone might steal our stuff? Is there a lot of drugs on this festival? Are the tickets expensive? Is it easy to meet new people, and is it safe? And the last one, how early to you have to show up for a concert if you want to be on the front line. Thank you :-D

    1.) Very safe to camp
2.) I've been camping 5 years in a row and don't intend to stop
3.) It's always possible so don't bring anything you're not willing to lose. And be sure you take precautions with expensive things you're forced to leave behind.
4.) Yes, there are a lot of drugs at the festival.
5.) Depends on what you call expensive, but I'd say yes. About $380 US without counting camping pass (one pass is good for as many people as you can fit in a 10'x30" spot)
6.) If you're social you'll meet people every step you take. It's about as safe as it is to talk to any random stranger in any public space.
7.) Depends on who it is you want to see, who's playing before them, and who is playing at the same time to draw crowds away. I approach it as a military strategist and I plot my routes of attack, resupply, and ambush.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

This. Planning and executing your schedule is crucial; with water breaks in between whenever possible. Sometimes you need to see an act you don't care about to get position for the next one. And there will be conflicts so you have to go in expecting that. Don't look at the lineup thinking you'll see everything that matters to you, because you probably won't.

Can't comment on the camping, other than that I've heard nothing negative.

Next year will be our 5th travelling from europe. Compared to UK festivals, at Coachella....

    - very few people out of their faces
    - in 5 years I've seen no aggro
    - very easy to move between the festival stages
    - most folk are relaxed and polite in crowded areas
    - with a little planning you'll be able to get pretty close to whoever you want to see
    - its simply a musical joyfest for 3 days, I wont be back at another UK festival

Id also say that there are less drugs at coachella than any other US camping festival.
"How long will this last, this delicious feeling of being alive, of having penetrated the veil which hides beauty and the wonders of celestial vistas? It doesn't matter, as there can be nothing but gratitude for even a glimpse of what exists for those who can become open to it."
