What are some of your favorite moody autumn/winter albums?

Real Estate's Days was last year's winner in my book.

Post some of your favorite albums to listen to this time of the year in here.
    9/05 - The Rentals - Fonda (?)
    9/11 - Swans - Roxy
    9/13 - Owen Pallett - El Rey (?)
    9/17 - Buzzcocks - Fonda (?)
9/20 - Crosby, Stills & Nash - Santa Barbara Bowl

    Nick Drake.

EDIT - More specifically, Pink Moon (Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter aren't quite as "moody").

Who Needs Who by Dark Dark Dark. Released a few weeks ago. Excellent (winter) album.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Badly Drawn Boy's The Hour of the Bewilderbeast, and Elliott Smith's X/O were some I have fond memories of driving to college during winter and listening to.

Days has always been more of a summer album for me personally.

    Anyway,

The National's High Violet is my go-to Autumn/Winter album.

Matt Pond PA - Winter Songs

Not really a fan of them, but this album is damn beautiful and really nice to listen to on a cold and dark day.

Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One
Greetings From Michigan - Sufjan Stevens
The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
    Grizzly Bear - Yellow House

My go-to autumn/winter albums. I could curl up inside or walk around in a blustery wind to each of these and be perfectly content.

Fleet Foxes self titled is something I like to listen to while trying to stay warm. That or a good majority of the Velvet Underground.

also, gonna agree with Gribbz on that. Days seemed to be a soundtrack to this past summer for me as well.

If you think about it, the songs probably weren't written the same time of year the album was released so it doesn't really matter when it was released... more when it was written and how the artist was feeling at that time.

I've been listening to a lot of what this thread has recommended, really good stuff.

And I forgot, this is definitely a winter album for me:

    9/13 - Owen Pallett - El Rey (?)
    9/17 - Buzzcocks - Fonda (?)

This time of the year always makes me want to listen to lots of shoegazey stuff. Just these past few days I have listened to nothing but the following:
    1. Slowdive - Souvlaki
    2. the Jesus and Mary Chain - Psycho Candy
    3. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
    4. My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything
    5. Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Perscription

Kate Bush - 50 Words for Snow deserves a mention.

The Cure's - 17 Seconds or Faith always feel appropriate in winter, too, for whatever reason.

Nick Drake, the Clientele, lots of jazz and misc. folky stuff. Also, Sinatra's Only the Lonely, Kid A, any Bon Iver. A lot, really.
