I think they are still just canceling shows one at a time because Sam broke his leg and they need to see how he recovers.

Probably doing this, with the healthy possibility of split sets and missing sets entirely to drink beers

Saturday: Lemuria - Crystal Antlers - Metz - Ty Segall - Joyce Manor - the Breeders/Title Fight - The Locust - Dan Deacon - TV on the Radio - Flag - Death Grips

Sunday: Comedy - Fear Of Mean - The Orwells - Chelsea Wolfe/Poolside - Kurt Vile - Touche Amore - Glasser - Baroness - The Melvins/Washed Out - Les Savy Fav - My Bloody Valentine

Kumail Nanjiani is listed on the FYF app but not on the schedule. Weird.

Am I the only person really crushed by the Les Savy Fav vs. Omar Souleyman conflict?

Also, does anyone have insight as to what Nosaj's show is like these days? Is he still doing the (very tasteful, IMHO) projector routine? A la http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPSiL4JG-IM

Every one said his set at OSL was just alright. I missed it planning to see him this upcoming weekend but now I met skip his set all together.

That bummed me out. I've never seen Omar before, so it's not a very tough decision to make, but I haven't seen Les Savy Fav in ten years, which seems like a huge mistake on my part.

Get your Hate points up. I have yet to see MGMT (clearly wasn't impressed with whatever I heard from them on youtube the year we were both at Coachella), and never exhausted their hits the way a lot of you probably have. Otherwise I would likely ignore their even being there, like Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Oh... wait... you still somehow haven't gotten enough of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. No wonder...

I absolutely love Kurt Vile's music, but have seen him solo once and with the Violators twice and have never been impressed with the show. He's a fantastic guitar player but has no stage presence and tends to change his better work into meandering drones that strip the songs of their magic.

I only saw How To Dress Well on his first tour. It was him singing over a backing track, which I tend to hate, and I was very much prepared to leave after the first three songs were less powerful than on the record. Then, lo and behold, he tells a short, personal story, gets this look of absolute conviction in his eyes and kills the rest of the show. He has the potential to be fantastic live, and I'd recommend catching him.

His stage present exactly reflects the attitude of his songs, so to me it's very fitting. Lackadaisical, stoney, and mostly indifferent. His set at Coachella this year was fantastic. And bmack, I seem to remember you really liking that Largo show a few years ago...does my memory deceive me?

I feel like I have had many opportunities to see Kurt Vile and keep missing him for some reason, so he is a must-see for me.

But the nice thing about festivals? if you don't love what you're watching you can always walk away and watch something else.

I thought Kurt was decent, but I loved the Largo show for Michael Chapman, the opener, who was phenomenal and a huge surprise.

And it's not to say Kurt Vile is BAD, but he's always just been kind of meh for me. The Largo set was definitely the best of the three times I've seen him, but it wasn't spectacular by any means.

Has anyone else downloaded the app and looked at the festival map? I'm assuming the Carrie stage is the main stage, but hasn't the main stage always been the one in the middle? The app map has the stages as (L-R) Miranda--Charlotte--Samantha--Carrie.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and MBV are on the Carrie stage. It's the main stage.

They definitely changed the layout this year.

Yes. I heard HARD Summer was miserably dusty. It'll be the same old same old.

The dust has become a part of the FYF experience, it wouldn't feel the same without a bandanna covering my face.

Yes it has. Make sure to wash your bandanas a couple times if you plan on buying a new one.

Will they be handing out earplugs at the gates? I still have a couple pairs from when they did that at Coachella back in 2009.

As of now, I plan on recording the following:

    The Breeders
    Deerhunter
    Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    Yo La Tengo
    My Bloody Valentine
    The Melvins
    Les Savy Fav
and maybe a couple early bands.

I wanted to get SMD, but given that its a DJ set, I'm probably gonna pass.

I'm a huge fan of Kurt Vile, and I thought his set at Coachella was just okay. Certain parts where he and his band jammed were great, but most of the time he just seemed...bored and lazy. I might check him out again, but I'll probably see HTDW.

Good choices. Your SMD recording last year was amazing (along with others), so def fine to skip. Curious to see how YLT's set differs from the one I saw at Solid Sound. Skipping Deerhunter since I can catch them at FFF.

Anyone know if "masks" or "dust masks" are prohibited at FYF like they were at Hard Summer?

    More effective than a bandanna...

I saw him open for the weeknd last december, im hoping this will be different, but for the weeknd he pumped his music in the dark. Boring to say the least. I could have just listened to him at home. Im certain itll be different. Dont know about the projector routine.
