Converge had the best pits the whole festival. So much fun.
When was the lineup released last year?

this fest seems like a way more badass ACL. hadnt really heard about it/looked into it until now.
Has Yo La Tengo played FYF before?
I would lose my shit if they got announced
may be they'll act out another Seinfeld episode
I've been to ACL but it's been years and I hear there have been a lot of improvements. ACL is a good festival, but I liked FYF a lot better for location, weather, more manageable size and capacity. Being from Austin, you're surely better equipped to handle the humidity and heat of ACL than I was, but the combination of the heat + dust was really unbearable. (I've heard the dustiness has gotten better). Zilker is also a bit of a trek from downtown Austin due to festival traffic/shuttles/etc (I remember waiting for a really long time some days/times for shuttles), whereas FYF is extremely easily accessible with public transportation. Just making it across Zilker is also a trek too, I can't remember the stage names, but I remember trying to make it from one end of the festival, up a hill, across the park, through seas of people to the 'main stage' and it taking forever, and having no hope of getting anywhere even reasonably close to the stage. FYF's location (provided it stays the same) is very easy to quickly navigate.
I've also not thought very much of ACL's headlining bookings. Some really good undercard most years, but the top few lines of the lineup are exceedingly mainstream and boring. FYF is a much smaller festival, so it's tough to compare lineups, but for the size of FYF, I thought they did a fantastic job putting together the lineup. Last year there were quite a few acts that you'd have thought the larger fests should have been able to snatch up.
For Austin people, FYF is much more similar to Fun Fun Fun Fest.

ACL strikes me as a much "bigger" festival than FYF.
5/25 Limp Bizkit @ Observatory 6/3 Sting @ SB Bowl 6/8 Ink-n-Iron @ Queen Mary
6/9 Tom Petty @ Fonda 7/12 Black Flag @ Observatory 7/28 Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z @ Rose Bowl
8/3 Americana Festival @ Verizon Wireless 8/28 Black Sabbath @ Verizon Wireless
9/15 Uproar Festival @ Verizon Wireless 9/28 Depeche Mode @ Staples
harder bands i mean, mostly. ACL would never have converge
Everybody got that. What they're saying is that it's essentially nothing like ACL, other than also being a music festival.
5/11/12 - Cloud Cult - El Rey // 5/23/13 & 5/24/13 - Boris - Echoplex // 6/7/13 + 6/8/13 - Jubilee Music Festival

I'd be stoked if they could grab The National and Crystal Castles...I would love to Animal Collective but I doubt they'll be touring much longer. I feel like MBV fits fyf's style well if they can pull off such a big name.
you guys are getting out of line

Besides Refused last year(and DFA the year before) Headliners have usually been bands that are on the third line or lower at Coachella to put it in perspective
^ I was just thinking that the festival has been growing and they might be able to pull a big name this year.
In that case I could see How to Destroy Angels, Beach House, hopefully the Femmes will be there. Maybe Franz, or Deftones.
Hopefully Booka Shade and the Presets will be the EDM closers
After last year I made a guess that it would be Modest Mouse headlining, I'm sticking with it.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
Someone earlier mentioned My Bloody Valentine as a possible headliner, which doesn't sound too crazy
2014 Wishlist: Depeche Mode - Nine Inch Nails - My Bloody Valentine
Neutral Milk Hotel - Sigur Ros (closing the main) - The National - Boards of Canada
That actually sounds really crazy to me.
RAPE STOVE
