Pardon the interruption, do they sell single-day tickets to this?

I usually book a room near LAX and just drive to the fest. I usually get a rate around $85/night for a 4 star hotel. I've never had a problem finding free parking near the fest. I would recommend this to anyone who will be driving and just wants a quiet place to sleep, but not recommended if you're looking for an after party.

I'm just gonna jump in here and say I stand by guedita's methods. A warm flask of bulleit is damn alright by me. Mint juleps step the class up a notch, although you ARE losing some of that precious ABV. Maybe just a Manhattan for me...

It's getbetter's method, actually, that he has executed with success at FYF, Coachella, and many concerts for years. Spooks just felt like being paternalistic.

Last year I snuck in a handled of Evans Willams between the two days....It was very obvious and I was shocked both days that I could walk it like that.If I got caught oh well ....there goes $7 worth of cheap whiskey.

Yup, it worked out quite easily. And, miracle of miracles, you can mix whiskey with ice cold lemonade and have ice cold, delicious whiskey lemonade.

And I don't know what you're talking about with losing ABV. My mint julep recipe is almost solely bourbon. There is a SLIGHT bit of simple syrup, so, sure, it'll go down a tad, but really it'll only be a negligible amount.

Don't forget those muddling (see what I did there?) mint leaves.

But you're right, it's a pretty negligible difference in ABV.

Naw, the mint leaves I do into a mint/bourbon infusion that I use to flavor the bourbon. It creates a more easily-bagged julep that's pre-mixed.

They also had some sort of summery cocktail with vodka that was pretty decent and, if you were nice to the bartenders, also fairly strong.

Beer was also ridiculously expensive last year. I can't remember how much exactly but it was either $12 or $15, for a plastic cup of beer.

    How big were the cups?

People always bitch about the price of beer without properly quantifying it... And sometimes it's not as big a deal as they're making it out to be (ex. every time I hear people make a big deal of a $14 beer at the Palladium, while neglecting to acknowledge that it's a 24 ounce cup... so you're essentially paying $7 per "beer".)

(not saying that your comments aren't justified... just trying to have my expectations set appropriately)

Not tiny cups. I doubt they were 24 oz though.

Yeah, but $7 is still ridiculous from a place that is already making money just by the fact that you're inside it, especially for macrobrew.

I'm not saying it's not high... but it's a lot closer to what you find at most concert/bar venues than just referring to it as a $14 beer would imply.

Hope this finds you well. Will keep this very short.

Tonight we have two great shows in Los Angeles. Nails will be celebrating the release of their new album, "Abandon All Life" (Southern Lord) at the Echo. Tickets are $12 and doors open at 5:00pm. And the Field are performing at the El Rey with Pharaohs. The Field's set at FYF Fest this past year was amazing. Highly recommend seeing them live. Tickets are $17 and will be available at the door. Both shows are all ages.

As for FYF Fest... 77 Days away. Can't wait. A week from Tuesday we will have news for you. Probably will make you smile.

    Have a great weekend.

So where the fuck is this news, that's already two weeks late? Or did they just mix up promoting FYF with promoting that Jack Black fest?

FYF mentioned on their Facebook page on Sunday night that Comedians would be added soon. That's all we've got right now.

What people fail to realize is that FYF posts all sorts of "news" that has nothing to do with the fest itself. It's promotional company as well as a festival.

Don't listen to the guy who's imitating the guy who thinks he knows everything. Whether or not its possible, FYF is not likely going to give up on their side-shows related to the fest. They've done them as long as its been a large festival and there's no reason for them to go away now.

True, though a late night show of one of the headliners on the night of the fest seems unlikely. Not exactly the same thing as Lightning Bolt and Suicide of Western Culture playing an after party.
