Anyone done the metro from long beach to the fest? Should be as easy as blue line transfer to gold to chinatown? Been a problem getting back to LB after the fest? Just thinking about the fest getting out at midnight and them running until 2am.

I'm not a huge frequenter of the public transit, and usually give up on the idea because of driving being quicker and more certain, so let me know please.

It's easy, but it'll take a while because the ride itself is long, and you have to transfer a couple times. Blue line doesn't transfer directly to Gold Line. You take the Blue to 7th/Metro Center, then transfer to either Red or Purple to get to Union Station. From there you can either walk the 3/4 mile to the park or transfer to the Gold Line. You shouldn't have a problem on Saturday at all regarding the lateness, but not sure if they'll be keeping all the lines open late on Sunday, though FYF has made deals with them in the past.

That's where I stay usually, easy walking distance and cheap.

I'd be a little more wary riding the Blue line late at night. It gets some really bizarre people on there, and is the only metro line on which I've ever seen a fight. Now, that's just my experience, but it's also known to have a higher incident of crime. That said, it's still an option, I'd just be more cautious that I would be on the red.

My wife and I have done this both times we went and it worked out fine. This year is the first time we are going to both days of the festival so we might just drive, or stay at a hotel. The LA Hotel is sold out. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Also suggested the Miyako. A little further down the street but nice.

Just listened to a Lemuria song for the first time. I dig the slacker vibe...really Pavement-y.

I'm sure there will be add-ons. Any idea who might have a chance at getting added?

it is not healthy to wish death upon someone for being sarcastic. save your anger for something legitimate. smoke a bowl maybe?

i honestly would be fine without any add ons. the list looks so great already. if there were some other undercards for day 2 i might dig that. mikal cronin and mac demarco are great though. ive heard good things about the orwells... i havent checked them out yet. those along with kurt vile, yo la tengo and j richman should keep me busy til mbv.

Going to FYF and having to ride the blue line back to long beach at midnight is not worth it.

Yeah, was just curious after I saw a local friend mention it. Does not sound like its for me. The time is a way bigger drawback for me then the supposed weirdos.

Can't really beat driving when you can park around there in a lot for the the whole day at $5 a spot.

If you go early enough you can find free street parking no problem. It's totally doable.

Or, pay to park in Chinatown and get pho beforehand at Pho 87. Your mouth will thank you, but you'll be so tired you may not want to go into the fest.
