If true, I'm grateful for it still being 2 days. I had a great experience this last time out, but would have understood if it wasn't financially sensible to continue making it a 2 day festival. The 2012 line up and production were first rate.

I'm glad it's not Labor Day weekend again.
Awwww pretty lame moving it from a holiday weekend. It's gonna be hard to go to work the day after that. Harder for people to come from out of town too, especially one week before a 3-day weekend.

Why do you aim to be a troll? What's the point? What do you gain, other than derision from other?
I'm down for this weekend, but it would be much easier if it were the holiday weekend again. Although I bet that lost them some local business with all the other events that go on throughout the nation then. Worth a try at very least.
Just look at Randy in the rumors thread and realize I am not a true troll on this board. People with over 20x my postcount would like people to believe I was an annoying troll however so it's fun to have something silly like the Skrillex photo to fuel the fire.
I quite enjoy Suprefan's bullshit and he will one day admit that he is a fan of mine too. Plus I don't find Spooks annoying like most of the board seems to, I look forward to what he has to say!

I've been wanting to go to this for a few years, but downtown LA? They'll have to step it up or move the venue if they want to sell out. (IMO)
For 90% of the people that go, the fact that it is a local festival right next to a metro stop in downtown L.A. is one of the biggest selling points.

Yeah, I'm sure they like it, but the fact that it's one of the dirtiest and most unfriendly cities in the world will always detract potential concertgoers. 90% of the people that go are local, and they aren't selling all their tickets... It's obviously time for a new strategy. I'd like to go if the lineup were a little better, or if it weren't downtown. I just feel sorry for your loose ten percent of outsiders who have to find a place to stay when they go there. That's got to be a nightmare.
Chinatown is located in Downtown Los Angeles. Wikislips.
You've shit all over every thread.

This is a totally honest question - when was the last time you were in downtown Los Angeles? It's actually a very amazing place and has changed a lot over the course of the past ten years. it is nothing like what you are describing. Plus, the metro subway lines are extremely reliable and easy to use, so someone could stay in any number of neighborhoods and be to the park in 10-20 minutes on a subway no problem. As someone who spends so much time downtown that i am actually moving there this month, you sound like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I haven't been there for a year, and it was as grimey as ever at that time. Not that you can't live and operate there, but it just isn't for everyone. Driving through LA isn't so bad once you get used to paying for your parking or living without a car, but walking the streets is pure dirt. There's lots of cool shit to see and do there, but I guess the bigger cities just turn me off a bit. Just like having a concert where I live (San Bernardino, not OC). It's just not the best place to have a festival, though the Spring Gathering/ Up In Smoke/ Paid Dues rap oriented festivals seem to be common and do well. We also get a lot of EDC type shows coming through, but not many, if any, all around great festivals with multiple genres of music. It's sort of disappointing, but it's understandable. The promotors aren't trying to lose money on booking great acts in the wrong location. FYF has had some pretty cool acts I've wanted to see, but I was patient and ended up seeing most all of them at Coachella anyway. If they drop an amazing lineup, I'll go. No questions. It's got to be worth the experience.
I've always considered Chinatown a part of downtown, myself. Chinatown in and of itself as a neighborhood IS pretty dirty, I must admit.

There's a freeway separating downtown from Chinatown, the gate, a completely different demographic makeup, different sorts of buildings. It's Chinatown Jake. Downtown ends, at its furthest, at the 110 to the north. And even then, FYF happens at the northernmost tip of Chinatown, almost into a different skeezy neighborhood.
Chinatown. Not China Town.
