I heard this is the last chance to put together a decent festival or it's going to be back at the Echoplex in 2014.
"why are you so annoying" TheKlein25
If they get the same caliber of acts I will be back

Coachella: 04,06,07,09,10,11,12(1),12(2),13(1),13(2)
Presidents of the United States of America 5/25, Tame Impala 5/29, The xx 5/30, EF 6/15, Belle & Sebastian 7/17, The Postal Service 7/26, Jay Z & Justin Timberlake 7/28, Fun. + Tegan & Sara 9/8, GY!BE 9/9&10
Events
Bonnaroo 6/13-16, FYF Fest 8/24-25, Holy Ship!!! 1/9-13
If it's true that it only sold 75 percent of tickets, I can see this being a one day festival again. The fact it didn't sell out with the lineup FYF had, is a bit worrisome.
3/13-3/17 - SXSW - Austin
4/11 - The Shouting Matches - Pappy & Harriets
4/12-4/14 - Coachella Music & Arts Festival - Empire Polo Grounds
4/16 - Sigur Ros - Fox Theater Oakland
4/19 - Sigur Ros - Santa Barbara Bowl
4/22 - The Gaslight Anthem - Belly Up Tavern
6-2 - CHVRCHES - Belly Up Tavern
6/7-6/9 - Governors Ball Music Festival w/ Kanye West - Governors Island NYC
I think moving this festival to another weekend instead of Labor Day weekend would be beneficial for next year if they want to increase the number of ticket sales!
ps Headliners: Day 1 Modest Mouse, Flying Lotus, & Explosions in the Sky
Day 2 My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, & Godspeed You! Black Emperor

A huge part of the appeal is that it's on Labor Day weekend. They may need to consider "bigger" headliners, but then the price would go up again. I think a part of what hurt sales was the price hike. I found my ticket stub for 2010 the other day, and I paid 25 dollars for that ticket. That is a lot more than what this year cost. Single day event, or find a way to keep it at 60-80 dollars. Even if that means less money on the top acts.
These were the numbers for the fest.

That isn't even 75 percent. I know if I was running a festival, that wouldn't be good at all. I'm sure the reason it seemed full at the site was because of the amount of comps.
The only thing keeping me from attending this is the date. For me, holiday weekends are for trips with family/friends.
well, it was nice to be able to walk around without it being so crowded, but yeah, those numbers are not pretty.
May 22 - Arctic Monkeys @ Ventura Theatre
June 9 - Devo/Gza @ LANHM
June 19 - Zavala @ Soho
July 31 - Flaming Lips @ Pacific Amp.
August 24,25 - FYF fest - State Historic Park
Sept. 22 - M83 w/ Philharmonic @ Hollywood Bowl
Sept. 12 -GY!BE @ the Fonda
Oct. 17 - Atoms for Peace @ SB Bowl
I’m curious about that 25,000 number. Can someone with more industry knowledge than I elaborate? Is that simply the approved capacity or the actual number of tickets intended to be sold?
This year’s crowd fit the confines of the park quite well. To me, it sounds like last year’s price point was spot on to maximize revenue while not overcrowding.
I liked that it was 2 day this year, it was nice not to have to worry about getting drunk and waiting to drive home at some ungodly hour in the morning like I did last year. Getting a hotel down the street was so convenient this time round. With those numbers, hopefully it doesn't mean going back to a one day affair.

I hope they keep it at 2 days. I want more music, not less.
approved capacity for the park is about 10k more than 25k. that's how many they sold for SHM and HARD
each event would have to submit their own applications for capacity limit permits based on their floor plans, etc, etc. I'm sure that capacity limits have gotten bigger at each event with the closure of street next to the park and the push further north into the upper end of the park. The first FYF at the park and the first HARD Summer floor plans and entrances were much different than they are today. Just like Coachella, the promoters will find ways to (hopefully) improve the experience while being able to sell more tickets (and make more money).
If SHM has a plan to cram 35K in that park, more power to them. I just hope they get the logistics right and it doesn't turn into some Steve Aoki-style mad slaughterhouse where people get trampled on and/or thrown in front of an oncoming goldline train.
Well tons of horrible things have happend at SHM shows in the past so this would come as no surpise.
I realized earlier that I never uploaded my FYF photos so here they are...

SAVE THE DATE: FYF Fest will be taking place on August 24th & 25th 2013.
^^ that's actually great news for me. I skipped FYF this year because I didn't want to do two festivals (it and Hopscotch) in the same week. This way I can go to both.
The Rolling Stones - International Noise Conference: Los Angeles - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Austra - Colin Stetson - The Pacific Rim Projekt - The National - Goat Rodeo - Hopscotch 2013- GY!BE - Beirut/Vampire Weekend
Cause youre such a wuss?
Nice, glad it's still two days!
