If it wasn't apparent already from the bro-fight videos or the artist complaints, I think it's safe to assume from the four posts that precede mine, that SXSW has officially jumped the shark. The Fonz would be proud.

Those new Depeche Mode songs are pretty great! I can't wait to hear the rest of it.
I know they've played this awesome song live a bunch, hopefully they put it on the new one. They say Just Can't Get Enough on it a ton. Maybe there's live footage out there?
God, A Tribe Called Quest opening for Prince..........
A Tribe Called Quest is opening for Prince right now....fuck that is insane.
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
I understood that it was just new footage from the fest, wasn't that hard.
geez Steve, think about what you are saying. Hey dude, some big band played in a small club. It was really hard to get. I had to go take a piss and missed that 3rd song. Will you post it....Oh, it has to be 1080p, I don't watch anything less. Oh and the highest bit rate of course. While you are at it, could you post the entire Prince show too? Point being, Steve, can you find any posts of Prince playing his show. Just saying .... cr**** I did a quick look for Policy of Truth....No luck yet...

SXSW was weird this year...
3/13-3/17 - SXSW - Austin
4/11 - The Shouting Matches - Pappy & Harriets
4/12-4/14 - Coachella Music & Arts Festival - Empire Polo Grounds
4/16 - Sigur Ros - Fox Theater Oakland
4/19 - Sigur Ros - Santa Barbara Bowl
4/22 - The Gaslight Anthem - Belly Up Tavern
6-2 - CHVRCHES - Belly Up Tavern
6/7-6/9 - Governors Ball Music Festival w/ Kanye West - Governors Island NYC
But that's so clearly not what he said. "New stuff," at least to me or most any person who reads English regularly, would expect, in this context, in reference to a band with new material forthcoming, to be new songs, not just videos of tracks that they recorded over 20 years ago.
But then his second post ably proved the above point: Ron does not understand the English language.
Who else was at the Boiler Room SXSW Showcase? Skream threw a CDJ in the air LOL
It's my 2nd language. Do you like making fun of foreigners. How well do you speak my language: Cantonese.cr****
not just videos of tracks that they recorded over 20 years ago.
BTW, we can check with Gunz or someone on this, but I believe that is a dangling participle phrase (if I remember 8th grade English) which changes entirely what you really meant.
But point being: Here is Prince live singing some fucking song. I hit at least 10 sites and although peeps have posted vids, they have since got pulled down. This one may go zap so we will see.......

Definitely had a blast this year as usual. Probably spent most of my time at Hype Hotel, it had a/c which was useful and the best put together for sxsw venue with sounds and lighting. No clue yet how many shows I saw (trying to count with this post), but I maybe waited in line for 30 minutes 3 or 4 times, but not much longer than that. Worst line for me was the pitchfork day party line (45 minutes maybe), but it moved quick since it had just opened Also, I filled out a 15 minute survey for $20 while waiting in line which neutralized the waiting. I stopped by fader only briefly and overheard the people next to me waited 3 hours to get in for Usher and weren't able to. Yes, that is what's wrong with sxsw (too much big names and party people), but its not hard to avoid those people and what they are trying to accomplish.
It was nice to have Emo's back for a while, the Brooklyn Vegan showcases were good, but I only went Wednesday. Ended up catching most of the bands I wanted to see there at other venues.
The Flaming Lips played the entire new album and some of Yoshimi at the Auditorium shores show. They have a new stage setup, and it's way tripped out. Wayne had some weird tentacled baby thing strapped to him for the start of the show. A lot of people were like what the fuck is this? Having heard the new album already it matches up with the crazy psychdelic vibe and I am cool with that.
Most of the bands I saw in order and where with summary if possible.
Wednesday:
Fear of Men - hype Hotel - meh
Anamanaguci - Brooklyn vegan - good, only caught 2 songs
Braids- Brooklyn Vegan
Maserati - Brooklyn Vegan killed it
Caveman, Caitlin rose- Brooklyn Vegan meh (should have seen Charlie XCX at hype)
Polyphonic spree - Hype (distracted by personal phone calls)
Disclosure - Hype Good
I had a bunch of plans for the evening, but ended up going to my friends house on 7th and drinking homebrews until I woke up on his couch at 5am and was like what happened?
Also, I only spent $4 while watching shows that day for 6 drinks and free tacos. Spent $10 on pizza for $14 total for that day.
Thursday
Rhye- Pitchfork good
Autre Ne Vuet - Pitchfork not bad, has heart
Merchandise - Pitchfork
St. Lucia - Hype hotel decent
Flume - Hype - Fucking awesome
Chvrches - Hype - Awesome
Austra - Hype Good
Headed over to the Fool's Gold Super Party at Emo's East for $10 to meet up with friends.
Classixx - fools gold
Oliver - Fools Gold Good
Dillon Francis - Fool's gold
Icona Pop - fool's gold - good with sxsw anthem
Flosstradamus - Emo's Annexx
A-Trak - decent
Fool's gold throws the best dance parties usually. No bag checks walking from Emo's to Emo's Annexx, so we just brought in beer. Only checking for the wristbands. Crowd was a lot of under age and ravey types.
14 hours of bands day.
Friday -
Mohawk day party
Jetta -not bad at all
Doldrums - weird lyrics with good electronics skill
Austra
Toro Y Moi - good based on the songs I like
Alt - J - great
Headed to auditorium shores
Divine fits - disn't really pay attention
Jim James - good, but so crowded will see in Dallas for a better show
The Flaming Lips - good new album followed by some Yoshimi and Jim James closing with Do You realize
Deer Tick - syria benefit in an orchestra hall - good
The Black Lips -Syria benefit - probably the nicest venue they will ever play, watched a dude get pulled out and dragged off by his feet through a door by the ATX police. he seemed non compliant.
Wandered around afterwards trying to see if I could find Master P, but called it a night.
Saturday
Fear of Men - Fader (was just there to meet up with friends)
Blue Hawaii - Hype hotel - Awesome
Fidlar - Hype Hotel - awesome
Thee Oh sees - Clive Bar - awesome
That pretty much ended most of the free shows.
I wandered around for a while at this point.
Ended up back at Hype Hotel since there were no lines and found an all access badge on the floor (just allows backstage access)
Caveman - still meh, hate myself for not going to see Flume again
MO - good
!!! - festival dance party closer, great.
Total that up and it's 35 bands I think. Only spent $20 on shows, found $32 on the ground and made $20 taking a survey. SXSW is usually a money saver for shows I would try and catch later in the year. Just spend tons of money on food trucks.
Will add more to this later.

Nice. Finally got a full nights rest. Highlights of the week were Rhye, Savages, Blue Hawaii, Andy Stott, the new Flaming Lips show, Chvrches, and Soley. Icona Pop were also surprisingly really good at Emo's East, which also had the best crowd. The KCRW showcase Wed night was also solid. We saw Wild Belle, Toro, and Atlas Genius. I will probably see Wild Belle again at Coach.
The worst thing I saw was a little bit of Riff Raff while waiting for the Presets. It was awful.
Agree on riff Raff, total crap. Didn't even include on my list. Blue Hawaii was so good. Glad I caught that. Flume, Blue Hawaii and Chvrches were my top 3 electronic acts. I got a great video of Icona Pop doing I love it at Emo's. Best crowd for sure, most of Austin has issues with dancing otherwise.
I go to shows and festivals.

Autre Ne Vuet would be much better if he played with a full live band and more than one backup singer. He's a great performer though and I love the album. Mac DeMarco, on the other hand, was much better live than on his albums. So much to digest from this past week.
