The Flaming Lips, Jim James and Divine Fits will be playing Friday at Auditorium Shores. This will be a guaranteed cluster fuck of people, but I want to go see Jim James if possible. I think Thursday was all Latin bands and Saturday was a Levon Helm tribute among other things. I saw the Strokes there and it was retarded packed getting there late. They eventually reached capacity for that show.

For recent info on twitter, @cameronatsxsw posts a lot of god info among other sources.

Kendrick Lamar headlines the Spin party which was not hard to get into last year also.

I keep a separate e-mail account for all this stuff too. Even this site. So I have three: work, personal, and internet junk.

So what are people's schedules looking like? Wed is probably Thrasher Death Match then Red 7 for the Windish showcase or maybe Haven for the KCRW showcase. Thursday has too many options! Friday night also has some great stuff. I was thinking the Jim Jones/Lips at AS and then heading to some later showcases. Bar96 has Metz/Wavves/Phosphorescent, Hotel Vegas has Bleached/Mikal Cronin/Marnie Stern/Thee Oh Sees/MacDemarco, and Swan Dive has MacDemarco/Braids/Blue Hawaii/Doldrums. But the La Zona Rosa lineup is solid: Kidnap Kid, Tokimonsta, Disclosure, Bondax, Azari & III, and TEED. I have yet to see Azari and they canceled SX last year.

Already have a packed Thursday and then I saw this today. We went to their party last year and it was easy to get into before 2 and by 3 there was a line down the block. This was at the Mohawk though.

I was lucky to get into fader after it crashed. I basically missed the RSVP when it opened then crashed, but got in when they reopened it later for 9 minutes before it hit capacity. Still not sure who to see there yet, probably disclosure.

Still building my schedule and checking out new bands, but Wednesday Hype hotel day party seems like a good start, The mohawk show with Japandroids and Stooges sounds hard to get into without a wristband. will play it by ear that night.

All the day parties at hype hotel look good.

Friday would be my prefererred mohawk day party followed by Jim James and the Lips. My friends band, The Blackstone Rangers from Dallas would be another band I would consider if I don't hit auditorium shores. Alt-J at waterloo is a maybe also.

Saturday I really have no clue yet. Will see what Fader has to offer.

Still much to plan.

I slept in yesterday and missed the Fader RSVP. Too much already going on though so I'm not that bummed, yet. Viceland, Hype Hotel, and Pandora have fairly solid lineups too that were easy to RSVP. Plenty of stuff to see for free. I don't think there is anyone I want to see that isn't playing a free party.

Also, White Lung are a killer band and should not be missed.

Good to hear. Want to check them out. Mikal Cronin is also a solid performer and gave one of the best shows of the fest at this same party last year. This is probably the best day party I've seen posted. If only they had free beer.

The Jim James/Lips shows is at a great time when lots of venues are adjusting between their day and night showcases. So it's possible to check out both sets and still catch a late night showcase somewhere else. I'm def bringing extra cash this year to pay for more pedicabs around downtown just to ease some of the exhaustion. Damn, I'm so excited about this right now....and to think I almost have my doubts about going this year.

Instead of pedicabs, buy a cheap pawn shop or walmart bike and then sell it at a pawn shop or give it away. Just an idea. So much more freedom. It's easy for me since I am driving down though.

My bike cost $35. I did have one stolen the other year though, and my cousin stole my main bmx bike. Still trying to get it back before sxsw. He's a shady fucking felon.
