how the fuck are they just recently falling through with plans to get the Rolling Stones, shouldnt they of had that locked up 4 or 5 months ago since they are one of if not the hardest rock band out there to get these days and would be the biggest draw they could get next to daft punk, who will most likely be alive and kickin a decade from now or David Bowie who will most likely not perform any of his old stuff even if he does play. really scratching my head on this one especially when GV has dropped the ball like this in the past. You think they would of learned their lesson by now. get those headliners locked into place 4 or 5 months in advance and let everything else fall into place over the next months.

I want some contrarian to come in and explain why it doesn't mean dick that GV didn't have the clout to nab neither the Rolling Stones/Bowie/Daft Punk/The Smiths this year and what it means for this festy going forward.

The 5 recent Stones shows grossed $7-9 Million per show, but it's a given that price will drop with more shows in 2013. We don't know if RS/DB/DP have any plans for 2013, so we must reserve judgement. If the choice was Bowie/Stones with neither being hypothetically available in the future, I'd go Bowie. I've said before, the Stones guarantee could be spent on so many more interesting acts, and I've seen the Stones/Bowie each multiple times.

Also, the last time Bowie did his "selfish" setlists was over 15 years ago. Even on Earthling, some of his "bigger" song were creeping back into the setlists. Glastonbury 2000 featured NOTHING from the 1999 Hours album.

It's not GV's fault that people get their hopes up, they aren't out there announcing who they are trying to book, or dropping hints as to who might play. The blame for disappointment falls squarely on the shoulders of stupid bloggers and those that believe them.

Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone online he was waiting for the formal offer the day after the PPV. Plus neither the band nor GV ever denied the online listing when both acts have been quick to deny stories in the past.

I would like to keep this idea in my head as long as possible: Paul Tollett is sitting across a conference table with the Rolling Stones about to hand them a 7 million dollar contract to sign.
