Well.... Dre and Snoop, respectively, get plenty of daily airplay. They headlined Coachella. The Black Keys get way too much airplay. They headlined Coachella. If anything, you can bitch about how Radiohead were headliners while they get very little radio play... but then we could just take a trip to the Confirmation/ Rumors thread from the past five+ years to find out that people have been dying to have them play Coachella. So.... if anything.... Neil Young and Crazy Horse > Daft Punk. Subheadliner4lyfeyo. If living American folk icons have their shot at Coachella, Bob Dylan will be headlining. Neil Young still won't be headlining. =(

Also: What's this imperial valley nonsense? There's likely much more smog where I live, the Inland Empire, than there is in Imperial County.

Tickets were being scalped the night of for over $100. Bob may sell out some shows, but he's nowhere near the concert draw that Neil Young is. And, having attended the Bowl show, it was a surprisingly young crowd that showed up at the show. I doubt Neil is the headliner, but I would never doubt that he COULD do so.

Wow, so the Radius Clause® prevents a small band from being the support act for a much larger band nearly 3 months before the fest? That seems a bit harsh. Good find, though.

The "confirmed list" here is getting ridiculously long at this point.

We both know he won't be headlining. Knowing this, I'll use any reason/ excuse imaginable. Once the lineup drops, and he's either a sub, or not on the lineup, all I have to do is say HA. So... why not just accept it, and we move on? I hope he's on the lineup, but I also like to think GV is a bit more imaginative. Coachella isn't the bowl, and its ticket prices are crazy higher than whatever his show was pulling in per person. I just typed Neil Young into google, and before I hit enter it dropped down a list of possible searches. Go figure... after decades of touring and recording in-studio, the third choice on the list was Neil Young Hollywood Bowl. Do you think it was possibly over-promoted like a Maroon 5 concert? Really, I think Neil Young is too old for Coachella, but I also think he's too big for Coachella. The dude could easily play a three hour set. His fans would love it, but everyone else would be grinding their teeth to SHM. That's the issue.

up-and-coming festivals? seriously? not only does ACL sell out faster than any major festival in the country, but there is such high demand for tickets that they're adding a second weekend now.

up-and-coming festivals? seriously? not only does ACL sell out faster than any major festival in the country, but there is such high demand for tickets that they're adding a second weekend now.

Neil can headline Coachella and probably would if he was offered, plain and simple.

That said, this whole two weekend thing (Coachella, ACL, Ultra) will not be able to sustain itself forever. Coachella and ACL will likely be able to keep it going for a while, but EDM as a bro genre has a shelf life. The sooner Ultra dies the better. They do book some great acts (Richie Hawtin, Disclosure) but its 99% crappy cheese.
