What the fuck are you talking about. There are numerous accounts of bands being booked over a year in advance. Arcade Fire, for one. Also, all of last year's headliners were set in stone by early summer.

There have been rumors circulating the Internet for quite a while now that the Rolling Stones would play. HOW BAD OF A PR ACT would it be to post an ambiguous picture that some could interpret as a rolling stone to build hype if the Rolling Stones weren't playing? Talk about PR fails, that would be #1 in the world. Whether it is a polo ball or a stone (capable of rolling) is irrelevant, GV wouldn't post anything even remotely close to a rolling stone if they weren't playing after all the rumors that have been going around.

The presale didn't happen roughly two weeks before the lineup announcement you troll, it was months before, leaving plenty of time for them to drop out. The lineup announcement is imminent for this one, it's completely different.

I don't want to sound like I'm siding with moto rave but yes. The stones said they wanted to see how the Dec shows went first, that has been publicly stated by Keith and Mick. So it is not to far fetched to think once those shows concluded, GV started to discuss further tour details with the stones.

What do you think GV is going to say "oh well, we already started to make a pretty poster can't change it now, maybe next year"

No, if the stones became available the day before the lineup i'm sure GV would still pursue them if they wanted the band to play.
