Bands had contractual obligations to withhold tour dates until a certain date in January. That date has now passed, thus the influx in tour dates from bands that have Coachella sized holes in them.

Why would some bands have those obligations (the XX, Grizzly Bear, etc) while others did not (Yeasayer, Major Lazer, the infamous Beach House)?

Maybe because they're Sub-headliners vs. lower tier (3rd line and below) acts?

I was purely joining in on the clueless speculating garbage. But at some point artists have to announce their touring plans whether a certain festival's lineup is ready or not. I'm sure all contracts are different.

I agree, I was just floating that question. If they are releasing tour dates because the lineup is not ready yet I am going to lose it. I know it's been this late in the year plenty of times before, but the last few years we at least had some tangible idea or hint of when it was coming based on videos, board color changes, site being down, etc. It sounds like they are specifically not going to do any of that this year. If it comes out today I'm cool, but I'm going to get really frustrated soon.
