Muse, Chili Peppers, and The Rolling Stones.....
Is every boardie's worst nightmare slowly becoming a reality?
Is MotorAve going to finally gain some cred on this board?
Is TheKlein going to be the only one happy with the lineup?
Is MJA going to reply in italics?
Is Supre going to make this claim the day before the lineup drops?
Is NathanFairChild going to love the lineup then reflect back on it in a few months and hate it because their are too many guest appearances?
Is Zafocaine going to keep being that guy?
Is GuyInTuscon going to respond by saying "No"?
So many questions...
They know what is what, but they don't know what is what, they just strut. What the fuck?
A lot have argued that RHCP could headline as the one top act that Bros love - a long tradition including Jack Johnson, Muse and Kings of Leon. They're wrong for two reasons:
- This tradition is over with. GV still has to program for a general audience, but not as much as they used to. While it's not official information, it seems pretty obvious that last year's Bro Headliner - The Black Keys - were a last minute replacement (it's also worth noting that, as far as Bro Headliners go, TBK have appeal that goes beyond the Top 40 subset). Before the Black Keys were added to the bill, none of the headliners were of the safe and boring KROQ-sort. This year, don't expect to see any band like that, at least as a Headliner (go fuck yourself, Motor Ave).
- Even if I'm wrong on that first point, it's very debatable how big of a draw RHCP is anymore. You have to hand it to those guys that they remained a massive band for a very long time - and they still are, but their popularity has dropped off enormously since 'Stadium Arcadium' was released. That album they released last year - can anyone on this board name a single from it? Yes, they're still big, but are they big enough to qualify as the safe choice to GV?
Both of these points, added to the fact that they Headlined Lolla last year, makes me think we won't be seeing them on the poster next week.
(next week, pleeeaaaaase?)

Thirty Seconds to Mars October 12 @ Hollywood Bowl
A very large draw. It's just that sloppy seconds and thirds feeling that makes them a turnoff. 2 quick soldout Staples Center shows scheduled in February but got moved to August along with headlining other major festivals just would make a 2013 Coachella appearance kind of disappointing, but promoters will find a way to hype them up.

No i totally agree, which is why I'm hesitant to put any weight behind it.
Buttttt since RHCP was the first name mentioned (by menik I think really early, right?) it's just interesting.
Is it unprecedented for somebody to pull double duty like that? (AFP and RHCP, for instance)
……….bumblebee? lol
6/2 - Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
6/5 - Cut Hands - The Void
6/11 GZA - Porter's Pub
6/12 - Casey Abrams - The Griffin
6/13 - Cold Cave - The Void
6/19 - ZZ Ward - Birch Aquarium
I think Flea is someone who could definitely do that, but it seems rather odd (lame) to have RHCP play after they finished a US tour in the fall. Also, I don't see them both playing based off RHCP's current dates since they are booked through early March. If AFP is going to start touring in April one would assume they would have some rehearsal time and probably a few warm up gigs before hitting a fest.
Muse/Peppers/Stones...
Motorave can't be serious.
Muse and RHCP are probably the last realistic/predicted acts I would want to see headlining
Why are people predicting Muse now?
6/13-16 NXNE
So when I search Rilo Kiley this page shows up but I don't want to look through 286 pages to see what was said....does anyone remember? I know they're album is coming out soon, it'd be fucking incredible if they were at coachella..

i fail to see how RHCP and Muse, two of the most accomplished artists of their times, are considered a "bro" draw and have a wide swath of fans, from music majors to my mother... bro's don't really listen to either of these bands. bros listen to shit metal like avenged sevenfold, atreyu and they listen to skrillex and some of the classier ones listen to sublime and slightly stoopid. they might sing along to under the bridge when they're drunk, but all in all i've been to several concerts of each, not a single bro was seen.
My girlfriend looks a little bit like Charlize Theron... and a lot like Dog the Bounty Hunter.
