Logistics aside, I have kind of wanted Coachella to get more "big" names to share the top line and have one close out the Outdoor Theater. But it just doesn't seem too feasible. The stages aren't far enough apart to reduce sound bleed (the Black Keys flat out RUINED some moments of Explosions in the Sky this year) - the performances would have to be precisely staggered.

Then why did you use Dr Dre as your example? Follow your own rules. I just gave you 4 examples where Lollapalooza couldn't touch headliners Coachella in the past.

The only other festival Paul would perform at would be Bonnaroo, and I doubt they ever get him.

FWIW I'm at the Two Door show in Sac and I just asked their manager if they'd be at the Polo Fields, to which he replied, "Not this year". Not really surprising, but I thought I'd share.

There's only so many headliners to go around, so its hard to complain that various festivals "share" them so often.

If Dre decided to do more live work, I'm sure Lolla would be there with the most generous single performance offer.

Coachella has a history of getting headliners nobody else has gotten in the US, even with this small pool of headliners you speak of. Did you not remember what you were trying to convince us of?

Just that there's no reason for people to keep on worrying that it will be the "usual suspects" in the top line each day.

Also the idea that booking Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, The Killers, Muse was somehow copying Lollapalooza was also a very silly statement. DP will go about 5 years between gigs, anywhere in the world.

I think Yo La Tengo will be there. There current dates exclude a West Coast tour, which I expect them to announce once the lineup is released (with the LA date missing of course).
Any credibility to this thought? They last played in 2010, so they're due back. They have a new album Fade coming out in January (but it just leaked, digging it so far). They're awesome.

Of course, there's no evidence to prove you right, but at the very least it is a credible theory.
