Both arguments as to who was the replacement seem valid. However looking at the poster it makes more sense thatdre and snoop were the replacements. Justice > atdi > black sabbath Sunday with Pulp > black keys > shm on Friday is logistically and promotionally a better look than pulp > dre & snoop > shm. It's hard to imagine having shm close after dre and snoop, especially with the tupac hologram. That just seems anti climatic and against the convention. over the last 3 years No edm act played after tje rap headliner, rather they've been bundled with the contemporary rock band
I have to wonder if Dre aquired a profit sharing deal considering he already had a deal with burning Man and if he indeed had the bargaining power of being last minute booking. Also, Snoop already had the Austrian gig booked during W1 which eventually got cancelled in January 2012 because of a pot bust.
Makes me wonder what possible 2013 headliners(not named The Smiths) would get the big money and which would be the "cheaper" options. Where does Daft Punk fit on the money spectrum?
"FIRST CLASS AT COACHELLA: There’s plenty of chatter about Radiohead being offered a percentage of gross receipts to convince them to play two shows at this year’s expanded, sold-out Coachella. The festival’s talent budget reportedly swelled to more than $30 million, which is just a fraction of the overhead to put on the massive event. Whether or not they received backend, weekend headliners Radiohead and Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg reportedly scored $4 million paydays for the two shows, with $2 million apiece going to Friday co-headliners The Black Keys and Swedish House Mafia. Sources say Goldenvoice chief Paul Tollett sold 180,000 tickets for the two weekends at an average of $300 a pop, earning the company a whopping $54 million gross. Last year’s festival drew 75,000 per day for a then-record total of $24.9 million, up from 2010’s $21.7 million. (4/17p)"

As for GV carefully planning the mainstage evenining schedule....it was fun watching the various fans of DFA79/Duran/Strokes/Kanye "mingle" between changeovers.
I'm just happy Pulp won't be back. Might have been the most boring set I've watched in my 12 years of attendance.

As well as the people who said The Chemical Brothers headlined in 2011
Janelle Monae, Spiritualized, Loco Dice, Cloud Nothings, Paul Kalkbrenner, Blur, El-P, Kurt Vile, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Moby, Grizzly Bear, The Shouting Matches, Four Tet, Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Savages, Jessie Ware, Booka Shade.
Haha. Well played. Well, "Capitol" gave me some more info today. Not saying that they are playing but, GV sent out offers to the Stone Roses, and Jawbreaker, apparently. Personally, out of the two, I think the Stone Roses are more likely to say yes than Jawbreaker. But, I guess we'll find out for sure at the end of the year.
Coachella 09, 10, 11, 12(1), 13(2)
It's all about the music.
Hey Bumblebee, on a scale of 1 to 1,000, how likely does this make a Led Zeppelin reunion at Coachella?
Is this a "soft" denial that is secretly a confirmation? At one point, guitarist Jimmy Page mentioned that the reunion concert was five years ago and that if there was a chance they were reuniting, you would have heard.
"Seems pretty unlikely, doesn't it?" Page said.
Potentially good sign:
The Stone Roses are confirmed to play at Australia's Future Music Festival in March 2013. More info here...http://www.thestoneroses.org/
Blur and Stone Roses would be great
I am so down with another Britchella next year
