The phone # I called was 011-44-161-832-1111. I told the first guy I spoke to that I wasn't able to purchase the passes online because international purchases to America are blocked. He put me through to customer service. I told the lady what size tent we've got -- if you have the same thing as us (4m Sleeping Bell), the cost is 32 pounds per person. Good luck!

Yes, I know how to read a calendar... And yes, I will be able to figure out the conflicts when they post the SET TIMES -- i guess you could call it the stage pacements but who calls it that?? I'm sure you would understand my concern if you knew when they released the schedule the previous years.

I gave that number to Monique, Jon!

    I cleared them.

Hey Supre - I think the whole point of his comment was because THEY DON'T POST THE TIMES PRIOR TO THE FESTIVAL.

Bestival organisers have been told that their application to increase capacity for this years' event from 50,000 to 79,000 has been approved.

Isle of Wight Council approved a new licence for the event, which will take place between September 5-8 at Robin Hill Country Park. Organisers said ticket sales would remain at 55,000, the same as last year, and the extra capacity was needed for staff and artists.

Bestival director Jim King told NME: "There are no plans to increase the size of the audience at the festival but given that Bestival has sold out for the last six years it made sense to allow us breathing space to ensure that all possible staffing and stewarding requirements for future years would be covered should these numbers ever need to increase." He added: "Our license was close to renewal anyway and given the high cost of the application it makes sense to ensure that our new application would cover all future eventualities."

This years' bash will have a nautical theme and will be headlined by Fatboy Slim (Friday), Snoop Dogg (Saturday) and Elton John (Sunday). Other confirmed acts for the weekend include a UK festival exclusive from MIA, as well as sets from Bombay Bicycle Club, Franz Ferdinand, Merchandise, Peace, James Blake, The Flaming Lips, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr, The Knife, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware and Angel Haze. Learn how to read, you fucking bag of herpes pus. That capacity increase isn't related to ticket sales.

    Adds, etc.:

It’s a scorcher out there and in keeping with the glorious Great British summer, we’ve got red hot news of some ace new acts joining our incredible 10th birthday spectacular line-up this coming September 5th-8th, with an array of foot-stomping live action and dancefloor spanking DJs set to join Elton John, Snoop Dogg, Fatboy Slim, Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Julio Bashmore and more on the decks of HMS Bestival. Plus we’re unveiling plenty of Thursday night shenanigans including our Big Top and Replay With Rob da Bank line-ups and there’s ticket, travel and premium camping news galore!

HMS Bestival captain Rob da Bank: “The sun is out, the sky is blue and we’ve got a load more acts for you! Bestival never stops booking live bands and DJs for your pleasure and this year’s no different – from John Newman’s soul swing to Simian Mobile Disco’s intelligent rave and, if you haven’t seen Pretty Lights electronic workout prepare to be blown away. Besti regulars Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Dub Pistols and Mr Pete Tong plus a load of first timers are all queuing up to pop their Bestival cherry. Not long now people!”

Already worrying the plimsoll line with unutterably brilliant acts, there’s still room for more good shipmates aboard the trusty HMS Bestival including recent UK singles chart Number One holder, John Newman. No stranger to topping the charts having already hit the summit with fellow Bestival billed pop behemoth Rudimental, John’s soulful sounds are set to make him a truly big hitter. There’s also live action from dancefloor geniuses Simian Mobile Disco, genre hopping glitch chief Pretty Lights, rock n roll torch bearers and Bestival stalwarts, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, skank masters the Dub Pistols, another Rudimental collaborating Number One type Ella Eyre, barnstorming party starters Skinny Lister, uplifting rock and electronica-clash collaborators Mixhell, chap-hop don Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, Stockholm based quartet Kate Boy, dreamwave electro from Dream Koala, Southampton thrashers Polio, cosmic-pop chanteuse Zhala, Kent’s melancholic indie tunesmith’s Story Books and the impossibly young and talented Will Joseph Smith.

Stepping up to the decks on a mission to keep you dancing all weekend long are BBC Radio 1’s original dance music champion Pete Tong who returns to our Wight isle to host Bestival’s All Gone Pete Tong, Fabric resident and Scrutton Street shaker Daniel Avery, Wall of Sound top boy Mark Jones and deep sea bass warrior Mumdance. Plus there will be sets from Lovesick, ComfyPorn DJs, Dan Hayes, Propaganda DJs and Across The Tracks DJs.

For the fifth year running, we are opening our doors to you lovely Bestivalites on Thursday and for our 10th birthday, we’ve got even more top drawer behaviour than ever before, with a jam-packed line-up in the Big Top that includes the amazing M.I.A., Justin Robertson, The Correspondents, Mark Jones, Sunday Best Forum Allstars, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Bike To Bestival, Courtney Pine, and our Druids Opening Ceremony all hosted by Peter Tautz The Right Toastmaster.

The Replay with Rob da Bank stage, will kick off on Thursday night, with upfront sounds from the aforementioned Mixhell, Tythe, Man Without Country, East India Youth, Dog Is Dead and Feeling Gloomy. But that’s not all as there will be plenty of seafaring shenanigans across the site with a host of stages open including The Knees-Up Tent, Grand Palace Of Entertainment, Tomorrow’s World, The Bandstand, Temple Island, Club Dada and the Polka Tent.

If you still haven’t arranged your travel to join us at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, then now is the best time to book your ferry, as there are some great deals available from Red Funnel and Wightlink but hurry because they won’t be there forever.

Red Funnel Isle of Wight Ferries are offering 15% OFF ferry travel with all Bestival ticket and ferry travel packages when booking through www.redfunnel.co.uk/bestival or by calling 0844 844 9988 before 31 July 2013.

Wightink’s Bestival ‘Early Bird’ packages, including entry, camping and return ferry travel, cost from £201.85pp (or £211.85pp arriving on Thursday) for foot passengers and £856.70 (£214.18pp) (or £896.70 (£224.18pp) arriving on Thursday) for a car and four people. Packages are available via www.wightlink.co.uk/bestival or call 0871 376 1000.

Speaking of hurrying, if you want to add a luxurious touch to your Bestival experience in our premium camping area The Wild Copse, time is running out as there are just a few tickets left, so if you want to get in there, you know what to do.

And it’s last call for our ticket payment plan. Up until July 26th you can still get a ticket on a 5 week payment plan, which means your Bestival ticket will cost £38 per week for Thursday entry and £36 for Friday entry.

I've given up doing research. Just too much. More stuff added the other day and today:

    Bestival Brings You Soundsystem Pressure
    23 August 2013
    POSTED BY Bruce

As our 10th Birthday Spectacular draws ever closer this coming September 5th-8th, we’re spreading even more love across over 20 stages in 10 fields of wonderment, filled with non-stop parties and 24 hour escapism. It may be Notting Hill Carnival this weekend but if you’re after the greatest congregation of rib-rattling rigs outside of West London then we’ve got just what you’re looking for. Helping us to celebrate a decade of dancing on our very own Wight isle, we’re bringing some truly heavyweight Soundsystem pressure to the Isle of Wight. Plus we have news of some amazing news acts, Club Dada additions and the full line-ups for Pig’s Big Ballroom and the Disco Shed, so make sure you “grab the last few remaining tickets”/tickets because they’re flying out the door and we’re on course to sell out very soon. Don’t miss out!

Rob da Bank: “Two weeks to go faithful Bestivalites and I can’t wait! As you might have guessed, I’m rather fond of a dirty great big soundsystem, so I’m extremely excited to welcome the Digital Soundboy, Swamp and Trojan Sound System crews to our 10th birthday shindig, keep an eye out for me bogling down the front. And don’t miss out on all the crazy goings on in Club Dada and Pig’s Big Ballroom, you won’t be disappointed!”

Joining our super-colossal birthday line-up, we have three more full-fat soundsystems to announce who will be ripping up Robin Hill’s dancefloor’s including the incredible Digital Soundboy featuring the mercurial talents of their founder and Jungle pioneer Shy FX, plus the not inconsiderable dancefloor spanking abilities of B.Traits, genre-swerving bass soldier Breakage, and sets from Dismantle, Stamina, LX One and Juma.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, Red Bull Music Academy is set to return to Bestival this September with its strongest line-up yet! And they’ve got us chomping at the bit for some huge sine wave action from Swamp featuring Swamp 81 kingpin Loefah, the raw, machine music mayhem of Boddika, bass fusionist Pinch and off-kilter beat purveyor Mickey Pearce. Plus they’ll have Klose One stepping up to rain down the beats and Chunky on hand with the MCing action.

And Red Bull Music Academy aren’t stopping there, we’re ecstatic to announce they are also bringing the mighty Trojan Sound System who will do what they do best, blessing the dancehall with some proper jammin’ and thundering bass courtesy of hortical selectors Earl Gateshead, Daddy Ad, Superfour, Chucky Bantan and Jah Buck.

We also have a litany of booty shaking new acts to announce who will be helping us celebrate hitting double figures, including super-hotly tipped MC, Scrufizzer, whose fizzy flow will be smashing up the RBMA stage on Sunday, Tayo 3000 who will moving your dancing shoes in the Wishing Tree and Hidden Disco, funky beats guru Soul Of Man who will be keeping the Hidden Disco jumping and breakbeat champion Ed Solo who will be gracing our brand new arena, Temple Island, on Thursday night. We’ll also have sets from Phil Mison, Wayward, Pylo, Bestival stalwarts and party geniuses Sombrero Sound System, Cholombian, Black Kat Boppers, Duct & Owen Howells, Gemma Cairney, Matthew Hawtin and Steve O’Connor. Plus there will be live appearances from Run Tingz, Dr Meaker, Zac Smith and Garrett Kato who’ll be playing the Bandstand on Sunday night.

The surreal surrounds of Continental Drifts’ legendary Club Dada will play host to OQuadro, Max Pashm, Tia Brazda, Run Tingz Cru, Wonka Vision, Shoreleave, Gypsy Fever, Manière des Bohémiens, Dr Meaker, The Mouse Outfit and Dr Syntax, Pony Montana and *Loose Moose *who will all be swinging, dinging and exploding out of the spiegeltent across the weekend.

We’re delighted to say that Pig’s Big Ballroom is back with us once again this year, providing a hip-swinging array of acts inspired by music from the time before your mother was born. This year’s line-up includes the acclaimed Duke Special, whose vaudeville and music hall inspired style has made him a firm favourite for those in the know. There will also be live performances from Abioye and Randall, Lewis Mockler, The Tootsie Rollers, The Finkel Brothers Trio, Keltrix, The Devout Sceptics, Under the Driftwood Tree, The Henry Brothers, Ms Chameleon’s Incredible Flea Circus, Lucky Dog Theatre presents ‘Laurel and Hardy’, Ethan Ash, CC Smugglers, The Vagaband and The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing.

Pig’s Big Ballroom will also feature a wealth of 78s selectors manning the gramophones including Auntie Maureen, DJ 78, DJ GG and Monks, Duke Special (78s DJ set), Greg and The Kipper the Cat Show, Greg’s Greats 78s, Dr. Sid, It’s A Wind Up, Karla Chameleon’s Mechanical Melodies, The Edison Brothers Cylinder Set, Tony Tunes & Matt and Vintage World Music Set.

10 years old is positively middle-aged for a festival these days, so what better way for Bestival to mark its advancing years than by investing in a garden shed? Not that you’ll be getting much peace and quiet at this most outlandish of outhouses, mind. The Disco Shed has become something of a festival institution – spreading allotmentalism all over the land. And now they’re coming to Bestival, so expect a healthy dose of late-night shedonism from Thursday to Sunday taking in Ska, Funk, Reggae, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Garage, Rock n Roll and who knows what else from Del Gazeebo, Harvey K-Tel and Miss Splinters, et al.

There are just two weeks to go until we hit the island and celebrate like we’ve never celebrated before, so make sure you don’t miss out on the festival season’s biggest ever last hurrah! Last remaining Bestival 2013 tickets on sale now – get ’em quick before we sell out!

I'm surprised there isn't more overlap with electric picnic. Tomorrow has braids, summer camp, johnny marr, chvrches, warpaint, David Byrne & st vincent, the knife and minimal conflicts. Reminds me of bestival's Sunday last year. Need to make it to one of those fests someday.

Bestival was so much fun. So glad we went.

    Pros:

The crowd was way better than the Coachella crowd, save for a couple of sets (one of them being Disclosure). People actually watch the bands there. They were all drunk and dancing and having a good time, rather than watching the entire set through the lens of their iPhones or yapping incessantly about stupid shit. Everyone was polite, said excuse me, etc.

Food was really really good. Didn't have a bad meal there. Tons of choices. Also, the alcohol situation was great. They had the typical concession stands with beer, but then they had these seperate bars with different ciders and local beers. And Crabbies. Prices were typical for both food and booze.

They put a ton of money into the festival and it shows in all of the little details. There was ALWAYS something going on until 4am. We managed to get some time on Sunday to walk around and look at stuff, but we still probably only got to see half of everything there. And the finale with the fireworks was a nice touch.

Boutique camping was totally worth the money. We had a huge bell tent lined with furry rugs and a large mattress with a foam topper and a really heavy duvet that kept us warm. I never had to wait for a shower or a toilet in our area, and both were always clean. Plus it was quiet over there and not hard to get rest. For the most part, I was totally comfortable.

Security was pretty chill and it was super easy to get in alcohol into the main arena. We didn't bring much with us since they said that they alcohol rules would be enforced, but they totally weren't. We could have brought in cases and cases of beer and they wouldn't have said shit.

    Cons:

Not really much to say. The layout was a bit odd; they try to have the stages with the major acts in the same area so people don't have to do a ton of running in between stages. However, this creates a clusterfuck in the evenings when the huge acts are done. Also, some of the stages are on an uphill incline, so you're looking up to see the band rather than down. Sucks if somone stands right in front of you; you can't see shit.

The trash was really ridiculous. They have half the capacity and double the amount of trash. There was one campsite that had so much trash in it that it looked like they were camping on a landfill.

I've never seen so much pissing against fences in my life. They had toilets and urinal areas but most guys just pissed against the fence.

Yeah, a bunch of Brits and Aussies at Coachella this year were pissing on the fence by the portapotties between the outdoor and Gobi because for some reason there was a really long wait at the time. At least it shortened the queue.

I pissed behind a tree at Glasto once. Almost did the bottle thing at Primavera while waiting for Pulp, but the people next to me promised to hold my spot.

Glad you had a good time, Jen! The festival was just as I remembered it being. It was so nice to experience it all with some friends this time. One major difference I noticed was the amount of trash everywhere, the decreased number of people in fancy dress, and the amount of nitrous consumption was absurd. In 2010 people did balloons in the chill area of Bollywood but this year it didn't matter - 3pm on the grass near the RBMA stage, fine, all night in Bollywood, sure, all day at The Port stage, no problem. I couldn't even hear Dixon's set thanks to the constant talking and sound of balloons filling every 10 seconds. My only other gripe is the layout - all the fucking hills. My legs, feet, and back were killing me at times from all the inclines and standing at odd angles. Thank god for over the counter codeine.

Food was great as always. The sound was spot on. There was always something fun to do and it's such a gorgeous venue with so much attention to decor and other details. I will no doubt drop money to do boutique camping in the future. It was well worth the money to have a sanctuary each night that was warm, comfortable, and clean. I don't want to know how the general campsite looked Monday afternoon. I bet it was a mess.

The lineup was a bit lacking this year but we still managed to catch some really fun sets. Jon Hopkins, Ben UFO, Nu Logic, Squarepusher, Jagwar Ma, and Eats Everything's wagamama jungle set were all a lot of fun. Oh and Franz Ferdinand - that crowd was a blast and their performance was so fun. The downpour during Matinee and the insanity during Take Me Out were definitely UK only festival moments. And Micky Finn on Thursday was a blast. I love the dnb crowd over there!

Glad I went last year. Certainly not worth the travel dough with that lineup.

It seems that 2012 was the year for me lineup-wise. Unless something like that happens again, I don't think I'll make it to Bestival.

A little early to jump to the conclusion that the lineup won't end up with loads of good acts, but Foals? Really? A headliner?

Yeah - Foals are pretty big here.

Might do the weekly instalment thing again and decide closer to the time.

I love Foals but it is always difficult to gauge how popular an act is overseas - especially when they play smaller venues stateside. It shouldn't be surprising considering last year FBS was a headliner. Obviously Foals is a much better choice. I wish I could afford to go to this and do boutique camping every year.

On a related note, Kendrick Lamar is a headliner at primavera but 7th billed or so at Parklife in Manchester. Overseas vs overseas is weird, too.

Not everywhere outside of America = same level of fame.
