Primus 3D for 2013

Please please please let this happen. I don't think there is a band I'd rather see more at Coachella (other than Outkast which is looking more and more unlikely each year). They are always working on new things, I don't understand why they haven't been booked.

Edit: on second thought, the 3D show is probably better suited to smaller venues and might not translate as well to a big, open field. I just want Primus, I don't care how!

i just got tickets to see them on october 19th at hammerstein ballroom in nyc...3D! i had no idea it was going to be in 3D until i got the tickets in the mail and all i thought was holy shit...shits about to get weird!

I live in NYC right now and I'm pissed that I'll be out of town that day. I may have to go to Philly on the 17th to see them instead. Report back on how it was!

Have any detailed been released about the show? Is everybody just going to get a pair of those blue and red, film lens glasses or what? Screens? Holograms?

i honestly have no idea how this is going to be...my boyfriend went to the gathering of the vibes in CT last month and showed me the videos he took of them...Les is pretty sick and disturbing on stage which is going to make it a lot more interesting, ie his pig mask and gorilla mask while fiddling on his base so amazingly!! so if they do give out 3d glasses hes going to freak the shit out of me if i could see him with his pig mask in my face! ha! i did read somewhere that its going to be some sort of 3d screens on stage...but i will def report back with some videos

If Primus is going to be at Coachella it has to happen this year while Naugahyde is still relatively new. I've seen Les three times by now and Primus once but I wouldn't miss this set for the world.

Because of Les' affiliation w/ the "jam" scene? His solo projects are much more jammy, and he played at Coachella a couple years ago, so I think Primus could definitely play. They would absolutely destroy the polo fields.

Haven't seen it, apparently it's 3D video projected onto a big screen behind the band. I would see them regardless.

i always thought if primus played it would be a late afternoon main stage spot, but with this it would obv have to be after dark..i don't see closing outdoor, they might fit into mojave late enough that the crowds are thinned

too trippy man lol it was pretty great their visuals were awesome, the only suggestion i have was to put their screen a little higher because people's heads were getting in the way of the 3d effect but that's probably the venues problem...pretty awesome 3d show i def recommend it

Tim's been gone since they recorded Green Naugahyde - Jay Lane is drumming now.

Eh, honestly I don't think it is worth $60 (speaking just for the 3D effects) and that's weird if they're charging that much - GA floor at Detroit was $36.50. Very basic 3D visuals but some of them were pretty trippy. The majority of them were just old tour projections with Windows Media Player-esque effects on top of them. It also subdued the crowd somewhat, I was against rail in front of Les and was expecting total carnage but there was pretty much no motion behind me until they busted out the old singles like Tweekers, Mud, Jerry, Tommy, etc.

It wasn't really much different from any other Primus gig, besides the lax crowd and Les spent most of his time jamming away with his back to the crowd, watching the 3D screen - which practically every song they played had extended instrumental sections. Even Over the Falls.

Still would approve of them at Coachella, 3D screen or not. I'm not sure the logistics of them handing out 50,000 pairs of glasses though.

Tim is gone, its Jay Lane now which is actually really awesome. They play stuff off Antipop and Brown album now
