Thread: Newby from UK - Jan tickets?

Default Newby from UK - Jan tickets?

    Hi Guys,

A group of us from the uk are really interested in coming down for this. However, we missed the pre-sale! BOO!

Am I right in saying more tickets for April 2013 go on sale in Jan? If so, is it normally a day sell out and how will we know what date they will be releasing more tickets?

I'm in a predicament whether to book travel and accommodation now and then pray to god we get tickets! - OR, hope we can salvage some sort of accommodation after hopefully getting the tickets?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks v.much

Make your accomodations, hope for the best in January. If that doesn't work out buy a scalped ticket. Careful not to spend too much, since tickets will be close to face value on the second hand market closer to the event. Good luck

Go for one of the travel packages through Valley Music Travel that includes hotel and festival pass. Will be much more likely to be able to grab one of those as opposed to buying just a pass during the regular sale in January. From what I hear there will be a very, very limited amount of passes available then. You can find the info for the packages via Coachella.com and with your exchange rate it should be a good deal. I believe many packages also have shuttle service from the hotel you are staying at and those shuttles have been getting rave reviews from those who use them.

Fuck that - Wait until the time, get as many computers/laptops/ipad's on the go 30 mins before tickets go on sale, book em up, make sure you get car camping and sort it from there.

Car rental for the week from LA (where I presume you'd fly into) would be around $300-400 which isn't to bad between a few. Load the car up, pick up a tent and canopy from Walmart/Home Depot and car camp. If you are a fan of Glasto/V/Reading etc, you'll be amazed how sick car camping is. I'm sure staying off site is slightly more comfortable but if your are keen on the whole festival "experience" you gotta stay on site.

    Good luck chaps.

If you bomb out getting tickets, there were a million on Craigslist for face value and below the week leading up to it. Don't stress - If you want it enough and are prepared to take a few risks, it'll happen!

Question Re: Newby from UK - Jan tickets?

I read through this thread and I'm still a little confused as to if more tickets go on sale in January? Do they? or do you have to pray that if you travel there you can find some from a scalper?

I am pretty sure more tickets go on sale in January once the line up has been announced. I appears that has been the case for the past few years.

Yes more tickets are released in January after the lineup is released but based on last year the quantities are limited. Usually you have more of a chance at this time to get Weekend 2 passes over Weekend 1 during this on-sale... but chances are cut pretty slim. I know plenty of people who weren't able to grab tickets in January for either weekend due to the crazy traffic on the site.

As mentioned before if you don't get them during the regular on-sale a travel package could definitely secure a ticket...otherwise scalping a ticket within two weeks of the event is your best bet.

Are there a reasonable number of legit re-sellers (i.e. people who can't make it, etc.) on this forum closer to the time also?

yes a lot of people end up not being able to go for whatever reasons who have already purchased a ticket through pre-sale or in January when all tickets are released....it is better to find a ticket for sale on the coachella thread than on any other site since it is more trusted on this forum once it is sold out. (do not trust any scalpers who over sale the tickets) keep an eye out throughout March and right before the event for any tickets for sale...also, since they have been doing the two week event, a lot of people will be looking for trades, so if you can't get tickets for the weekend you want to go to then just get the other weekend passes cuz chances are you will be able to trade...as long as you get a ticket at face value, you are golden...

I'm pretty sure nobody has a clue what % went in the presale. Grab a travel package if you want to guarantee attendance. Will probably work out cheaper than going the scalper route. I'm going to assume demand will be a lot higher this time around, and thus keep prices up.

Hotels in the area are really nice and pretty expensive. There are two large casino/hotels in the area. If you haven't booked a hotel, it is likely they are sold out. Palm Springs is condo heaven. Try booking a rental. If no luck is found either way, camp. The camp sites are pretty nice.
