I would be down
I could see them in a similar spot to James or Squeeze
Forget about them.
Walk away. Walk on by.
Don't call their name...
They played some amazing gigs and festivals this year in Europe. 5x5 - five tracks from their first five albums (you know the ones before they got shit!). Would be a great call if Coachella booked them.
I've seen them many times. I'll agree that the 2002 tour was a low point. The LA date in particular was horrible (but there were other issues at play that probably should not be discussed on a GV forum).
However, any gander at recent dates they've done in the past couple years shows a revitalized band at the top of their game.
The 5x5 shows have been simply sublime.
They weren't that great back in the 80's. Nick Hornby gave them a right lambast in High Fidelity.

That would be awesome
The problem with SM (well, there have been many since 1989) is that two of the main factors behind their sound are gone. Mick McNeil on keyboards and Derek Forbes on bass were integral to the group's prime years. The group has never found proper replacements.
2014 completely unrealistic wishlist: Radiohead, Atoms For Peace, Elbow, Doves, Kristin Hersh, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Chemical Brothers, Faithless, Shy Child, Massive Attack, Zero 7, The Dickies, Holy Fuck, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, The Flaming Lips

"I Travel" is easily one of their most underrated dance songs.
