    Default King Crimson

Any chance of it happening? I would love to see them perform. It would be great to see Robert Fripp on guitar.

I think chances are more likely for 2015 than they were for 2011 -- the SF tour dates are at Goldenvoice venues.

    three drummers.

i'd've loved to seen the version with Belew and Bruford, along with Levin and Fripp.

Yeah, that early/mid 1980s incarnation was such a fantastic quartet. I was lucky enough to see King Crimson open for Tool back in 2001, and that was also a four-piece with Fripp, Belew, Gunn, and Mastelotto.

When I saw the dates, I thought this is very possible for 2015, which would not be a bad thing.

It is not possible to see King Crimson too many times in one lifetime.

Given the current demographic, how many (other than me, philabuster and my son) would be there? 8?
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

King Crimson became an instant favorite of mine when In the Court of the Crimson King was released in ’69. I caught them live back in ’71 (Columbus, Ohio) but only one other time since then, in ’95 (Phoenix). The first was a mind-blowing concert, or maybe I was just very young. They played stuff from their first 4 albums, and it was the first time I had heard any of the music from Islands.

Didn’t seem nearly as epic in ’95, but the new-at-that-time music they played (which I was not familiar with) reminded me somewhat of their mid-70s stuff on Lark’s Tongues and Starless and Bible Black – both albums I love to this day – and Fripp could still play the guitar like few I’ve ever seen.

I’d love to catch Fripp and King Crimson one more time, even just a shortened Coachella set with whatever lineup and setlist Fripp has these days. Wouldn’t miss it. I do wonder if there’d even be as many as Godspeed’s too-sparse crowd in 2012, though. Paul Tollet & Co. might wonder the same.

Isn't Fripp the kind of person that would decline playing at such a large festival?

    One would think so, yes.

I thought much the same about the GYBE crew, though, yet there they were, playing to all 500 or so of us late in the Mohave in 2012.

Though Godspeed has played several large festivals, like Primavera Sound, Pukkelpop, Pitchfork, countless All Tomorrows Parties, etc. Not to mention they supported NIN in several shitty corporate arenas. So they are known to step outside of their little anarchist comfort zone when there's a lot of money offered.

I can't even remember the last time KC played a festival, and the last one they did was probably not up to major ones' standards. Also when they supported Tool a while ago, I think I read somewhere they specifically booked them at non-corporate (for the most part) theaters instead of arenas.

Of course it would be great to see them close out the Outdoor Theater or a tent, but I don't think the odds point positively in our direction.

And my son would actually see them for a second time. We're up to 9. If this trend continues there could be several dozen who actually show up if they play.

KC has a chance at Coachella and if they play they are for sure on the Coachella stage.
