Sherman Hemsley dead at 74 -- REPORT
The 74-year-old actor passed away at his home in Texas, cops told TMZ. No cause of death has been reported yet.

Hemsley is best known for his role as George Jefferson, first appearing on All in the Family and then the spinoff The Jeffersons.
You know, but that's valid because if we are all gonna die anyway shouldn't we be enjoying ourselves now? You know, I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor insignificant preamble to something else.

I will always remember that walk. Back in the day when my dad used to be fun, he'd walk everywhere like that. It's a really good childhood memory.

    R.I.P.

This was my first exposure to Mr. Hemsley:

    Probably the worst movie ever.

Aw... I think he lived nearby me, because some guy from my high school would talk about seeing him from time to time (he was his neighbor). There are some fancy houses across from the school, sort of, and I think he may have lived there.

EDIT: Actually, Googling it a bit, he probably didn't live in the houses that I am thinking of. But he was still close-by, it seems.

I'll always remember him as a perpetually angry lumber executive who happened to be a dinosaur

    R.I.P. Mr. Jefferson.

I will refrain from making a tasteless joke about him feeling wheezy before his death...

    It was episode 113 - "A Short Story" September 30, 1979

George is ecstatic when he learns he's been named Small Businessman of the Year. However, Louise quickly learns that the basis of the award is purely physical. The award is to honor short businessmen.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

George walking on Mr. Bentley's back was always a guaranteed guffaw.

So did any of the geezers here ever drop Jefferson acid?

    http://badassdigest.com/2012/07/24/sherman-hemsley-had-an-lsd-lab-in-his-basement/

[Hemsley] pulled every string he could to hang out with Daevid Allen of the band Gong. Allen later gave an interview to Magnet Magazine where he talked about the bizarre experience of visiting the short TV star and discovering the guy had an acid lab in his basement (which means if you were taking acid in LA in the 70s it may well have been coming from George Jefferson himself.
