Tool would suck at coachella they would be after grizzly bear and before the fiver on a saturday night. Not to mention they would only get an hour and twenty mins.

I really hope they play bonaroo next year. I would go for a single day.

Chella is now just a great place to throw the worst fans of each musical genre together for one big orgy of hate.

Tool's headlining set at Coachella in 2006 was probably the greatest 90 minutes I've ever spent on the Polo Fields. Throw this man to the dick pits.

Their set at Coach in '99 was amazing, and better than any of the other Tool shows I have been to. I think Coachella is a great place to see Tool.

Considering I haven't seen them there yet, it tops my list. The only place I'd rather see them is a small theater-type venue a la the '06 warm up leg.
The sound, crowd, and atmosphere would all be better than a typical Tool arena show, imo.

That said, I'd also go back to see them on the farm again too.

06 brought some pretty bad crowds and their set was pretty mediocre even by todays standards, although they were really good at Lolla so idk

Yeah, their Mile High Fest set was one of worst sets I've seen from them too. Maybe it's a first show-festival thing, the three other times I saw them outside it was great.

I really just want a weekend at The Pearl.

Some bands like Tool are just superior in their own element when compared with festivals. I've had plenty of bands disappoint me at Coachella. The Lateralus tour stop @ The Wiltern was superior to what I saw at the Coachella performance.

That was my first Coachella, and Tool was pretty much my favorite band at the time. For a while I'd given up hope that they'd ever record or tour again, so my level of anticipation for that set was unmatched. I'd also avoided the album leaks of 10,000 days so I was hearing all of their new materiel live for the first time. Have they given better performances, played better setlists? Sure, probably, whatever. But that is and will probably always be my favorite Coachella performance.

what is 'TOOL's element'? dumpy arenas in toledo? where would you want to hear Aenima other than the shores of Arizona Bay?

Yeah, I've seen them in "their element" plenty. I'd rather have a full day of awesome music leading up to their set with additional options after their set. Not to mention being on vacation, rather than a Tuesday night show downtown. And fuck, they're all about getting outside the comfort zone, so throw them in front of some non-fans.

And Massive Attack opening for them is/was pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. I'd rather have them than any opener Tool has ever had. (sorry Meshuggah)

I just hate that Tool constantly has some of the best openers and they always get booed
