    Default ALT-J 2013

Besides having one of the most unique sounds I've ever heard they have been reviewed as crazy good live. We need these guys at Coachella next year desperately. One of the best albums of the years so far. Catch the whole thing over on their soundcloud, it's called An Awesome Wave and is out in Europe but doesn't get released in the states until September.

Some tunes to get started on:

I've only seen an acoustic set, but it wasn't impressive enough for me to even consider listening to the album. Maybe I'll check them out at Latitude at the weekend if they don't clash with anyone decent.

Hmm, well fair enough. Hope you get a chance to catch them and let me know if they are equally unimpressive. I'd seriously consider at least giving a song or two from the album a chance though. Enjoy your weekend at Latitude, wish I was there.

Saw them at Amoeba a few weeks back and told them I hope they do Coachella soon! Pretty sick band.

Pretty much a lock for Coachella after they've just won the 2012 Mercury Award for best album...

    I'm really down for this!

Saw them open for Grouplove at the Fillmore a month ago. Really really awesome band, they'd be awesome for Coachella!

Definitely not what I was expecting. Has a better feel live. I guess it just needs to grow on me.

I think this is one of those bands where if you discover them on your own you think they're great, but if someone pushes them on you you wont like them.

I say this because I love them but I have no idea how to introduce them to other people. And when I try, people don't "get it." kinda like Radiohead

I can agree with this. Tried to get a friend into them on Saturday and he was just like "ehh its not that bad?"

aHA, Chris! So you only saw a damn acoustic show. No wonder. You always skipped that little detail.

Well, stoked they'll be at Coachella. They are easily my favorite new band of the past few years and best album of the year as well. Seen them a bunch of times live over the past few months and can't WAIT to see them out on the polo field.

I watched a proper set at Latitude. They just do nothing for me. Last week I asked them to do my ironing, and did they? Hell no!

Totally down for catching their set.

As long as they don't conflict with The Smiths.

I wonder where they'll be placed on the bill though. They were pretty low on the ACL bill but with all the buzz they're getting right now I can see em on the 3rd/4th line (not counting the header line).

4th line a la Neon Indian, Death Grips, Fly Lo, A$AP, or Gotye of 2012.

Off topic, but hopefully Death Grips and A$AP are back for 2013.

That's exactly where I pictured them to be. Outdoor or mainstage though?
