That review of The Drift prompted me to add it to my own queue. I like scary.
Metric - Synthetica
From start to finish the flow of this album is awesome. Youth Without Youth had been out for over a month and the strength of this single gave me high expectations for the rest of the album. Those expectations were met with a great opener in Artificial Nocturne. My favorite track right now is The Wanderlust because I love the pace and what Lou Reed brings. Emily Haines sounds great, guitar and drums are awesome so this album is a win.

I've listened to Celebration Rock 3 times now. Thought about going to their show tonight but I wasn't in the mood and figured I'd have more opportunities in the future. I probably missed out on an awesome show because I live for that energy.
You definitely missed out. The show was sold out and the crowd was so energetic up front. They don't encore, which was pretty great, and they just blasted through the set. You'll have another chance, but this level of excitement will be hard to duplicate.
If you've done that, check out something completely different: Hawkwind: Hall of the Mountain Grill.
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
Forget 5 hour energy because Celebration Rock might be a better alternative on your drive to work, school, wherever. These 2 guys definitely make it work. David Prowse is a beast on the drums and Brian King shreds that guitar. I really like the firework intro because it makes you feel like you're about to begin an awesome journey. It is safe to say that if you like punk/ garage rock then add this amongst your collection because you'll enjoy it. Maybe a little overboard with all the jamming and screaming at times is my one criticism. Overall one of the best releases of 2012 so far.

Glistening Pleasure - Natalie Portman's Shaved Head
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
So many genres put into one album but they made it work. After the Flood is amazing and a powerful song. Just the mood the music puts the listener to in is great. It's hard to describe this record, you guys probably know what I mean.

Wow, I'm so glad this thread is exposing you to a lot of music you're liking, klein. Good for you for taking the plunge. Respect.
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
10/16 Massive Attack @ Greek Theater (?), 10/18 Culture Collide, 10/26 Asobi Seksu & Slowdive @ Royale, 11/7 Warpaint @ Echoplex, 11/12 Blonde Redhead @ Fonda
I also want to see you review it. I guess we'll see your true colors with that review. On a side note, could you add Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Here to your list.
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Before there was Hybrid Theory well there was the band Hybrid Theory. Soon after they changed their name to what we all know, Linkin Park. Hybrid Theory made its return as the name of Linkin Park's debut record which best exemplifies the genre of this album. A fusion between alternative rock, metal, and rap. Tracks like In the End, Papercut, and Pushing Me Away represent that when combining these elements you can get perfect music. Some of the songs can get a little repetitive and Crawling is overrated but what this album has is 2 great singers, guitar that can shred your face off at times, killer beats and great production. I love the energy given off and yes relationships/friendships that end do suck.

Wire - Pink Flag
Damn, I was really hoping you weren't a LP fan...
rasooli, were you the guy I met at weekend one of Coachella during the group photo, wearing the blue BoC shirt?
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombone
There must be something about his music that I just don't get. His voice is very distracting and does not appeal to me. I also wasn't big on the rhythm and found the music to be flat. Then the bag pipe intro in Town with no Cheer tempted me to stop. The lyrics probably convey powerful meanings. Good music to listen to on a day when you're feeling down. I was bored the whole way through unfortunately.
