So I saw Metric in Brooklyn a couple years ago, and this girl behind me was wearing a brokeNCYDE bracelet over her wrist scars.

brokeNYCDE fan with wrist scars? I'd cut my wrists too if I was a fan of that kinda music. All the lulz from that brokeNYCDE album made me like it slightly better than Sunn O))) :/.

Simply Red - A New Flame
The bass lines in the opening track It’s Only Love were pretty funky which marked a great start to this record. The soul in Hucknnall's voice was definitely there throughout the album. There was a good cohesion of keyboards, trumpets, bass, saxophone, and synthesizer to put together a well produced album. Songs like To Be With You had 80's written all over it, but this was probably my favorite track because I love the lyrics. I plan on putting it on to seduce the ladies. If You Don't Know Me By Now was pretty cheesy along with a couple other tracks but in a good kind of way. I had a good time with this record. Good music to be buzzed too

Liturgy - Aesthetica
There's 2 sides of the spectrum for this record. I could praise it's amazing instrumentals and creativity. Perhaps I could complain how the melody for the vocals sounded exactly the same throughout which was driving me nuts. Compared to most metal I hear on the radio, the work by Liturgy is far superior. They were able to make each track epic by slowly building up into power riffs and full out jams, and by having each average over five and a half minutes. Veins of God is the epitome of what I'm speaking of. I bet this album could cook your dinner because that's how hot it is.

Mission of Burma - Signals, Calls, and Marches
A 21 minute EP by a post-punk band in the early 80's. The only difference is that this is some of the best music that most people have never heard. That's When I Reach for My Revolver sounds like your typical popular punk song, with it's catchy guitar riff, bass to hold it down, and simple drum beat. Outlaw immediately changes the mood and brings in a more sophisticated guitar sound that features it's own uniqueness. The 7 songs are all great compliments towards each other and make a great EP. Their EP would go on to influence future big name artists.

Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine
From start to finish it is difficult to find a flaw in Rage Against the Machine's debut record. They prove that all it takes is guitar, bass, and drums to put together a perfect record which is something they pride themselves on. I mean Tom Morello is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Just listen to the record and you'll know it right away. Tim Commerford is a legendary bassist himself delivering it each track. Take the Power Back is a perfect example. Don't even forget Zack de la Rocha wrote some powerful and memorable lyrics. "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me." in Killing in the Name, "All of which are American dreams" which is repeated multiple times to end Know Your Enemy. Rap and metal/alternative rock could be done no better than by this band. I'm so glad I got to see them live.

Ooo my chemical romance. I don't use kroq to discover new music, they just happen to play wat I like. All about sirius xm. I've seen sublime w rome as an opener, I wasn't excited going in and was relieved the moment they left the stage

I cant even access kroq anymore because I moved to sb, now kjee is 3rd in my queue when alt nation is playing junk

ha alright, I've heard of him, I honestly don't read most the requests until it's their turn. I like his score in Truman Show, that might be the only movie I've seen that he did the score. Just don't want this to turn into analyzing Star Wars, etc.

Pere Ubu - Dub Housing
I was very impressed with the production that went into this album and loved the bass. Listening to this record with headphones on was crazy. I expected this album to be no older than 10 years old, but I was shocked to discover it was released in 1978. There were so many sound effects and it kept me interested the whole way. Wasn't really a fan of the singing as I was picturing a clown and sometimes Samedi from Live and Let Die behind the microphone. Codex was a pretty weird song too that made cost the album a quarter of a point. On the Surface wins for it's crazy keyboard and killer bass.

Phillip Glass - The Hours movie soundtrack

I could just sense the drama by the dynamic change of the tone. The music was well composed, but made for a movie I will never have interest in seeing. There's really not much more I can say. Nicole Kidman is overrated. The end.

Daniel Johnston - 1990
There's emo music, there's downer music, and then there is this guy, Daniel Johnston, who takes it to another level. Not only were his lyrics, tone, and harmonies really depressing, but sprinkle on top that he couldn't sing. It was basically listening to a tone deaf guy complain about his miseries... no offense. There were some nice acoustics. Tears Stupid Tears was a huge downer, and it hurt my ears when his tone would go from low to loud. I know he alludes to schizophrenia at least once in one of the early tracks, which was pretty creepy the way he described it. I had to immediately put on happy music when I was finished with this record. Listener beware you may end up depressed after hearing 1990.
