lol, you can take Merzbow - Merzbox off there. Not only will you not like it (it's noise), it's also 51 hours long. I suggested it mainly as a joke.

I listened to the first 21 tracks of that "Call Me Maybe" comp in the car this weekend and there is some fucking crazy, bizarre shit on there. I was laughing a lot a lot. Track 19 doesn't even have anything to do with the song, it's "The Freshmen" by The verve Pipe. And it's not even a cover. Bodyjazz just submitted the actual track by The Verve Pipe as their entry. Confusion quickly turned into hearty laughter a minute into the song when i realized it wasn't going to turn into a weird mash-up or anything.

Alright no Merzbow haha. I'm glad you warned me about the time length because I'd probably start listening without knowing and 2 hours later realize I have 49 hours to go.

White Noise - An Electric Storm
It's hard for me to believe that this album was released in 1969. Certain tracks had some unforgettable moments like My Game of Loving, which really caught me off guard when moaning started breaking out, next thing it sounded like a giant orgy. The other tracks were pretty awesome to listen to as well. Entering the phase-out section sure changed things though. The Visitation sounds like some serious shit is going down and it's 11 minutes long, so there's a whole story going on. At some point somebody crashes their car or motorcycle and probably gets ripped to shreds. Then Black Mass: An Electric Storm in Hell comes on which is just as dark as I picture a mourning occurring that gets followed up by a demon takeover. The album cover made me want to listen to this album during a storm in the dark because I believe White Noise wanted you to feel adrenaline and some fear. I know this becomes the inspiration for a lot of electronic music to come but the original is not always going to be the best.

Did you ever listen to it? You're talking about The Drift, the album we recommended in the hotel room at ATP last year.

He could also be talking about that Herbert album where he samples the life span of a pig that was eventually slaughtered for food.

Yup, that was the one I was referencing. But, yes...I did listen to the Scott Walker album and enjoyed it. I've been meaning to dig deeper into his catalog...just woefully behind.

Crazy Town - The Gift of Game
It's pretty scary how Linkin Park sounds just like Crazy Town at times. Crazy Town is more nu-metal oriented and Limp Bizkit is probably another fair comparison. I'm surprised how I've never heard these guys before considering Butterfly was a #1 hit. This was the first time I've heard this song and I absolutely loved it. The drum tempo combined with that slow guitar riff (even if they borrowed it) made such an awesome combination. I like the lyrics because they sound like they just don't give a fuck. This is a good album just because it's fun and a good energizer. After awhile I did kind of get annoyed with their voices and some songs got old fast. The turntable mixing was a bonus to the nice jams they put out though.

Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats
This was a strange album yet very well done. I honestly thought I was going to have to review a jazz album based on this album's title instead I got to listen to some heavy and scary Industrial music. Songs like Convincing People and Persuasion left me confused because they just didn't make sense. Vocals throughout this album were weird. There really was no rhythm yet songs like Still Walking had an amazing beat. I couldn't see myself listening to songs off this album individually but as a whole this album is quite extraordinary. For some reason a nice big gelatin was melting in my mind as I was moving through this record.

Klein, now that you've reviewed quite a few esoteric albums suggested by these board members: has and if so how has your taste in music evolved?

    That's a great question,
I've started to listen to more electronic artists, but overall my taste in alternative rock has not because I like most alternative rock, I've just added some more indie bands to my life

They Might be Giants - Flood
1990 has arrived but the 80's vibe still lives on this album. However, Flood was pretty much amazing throughout. There was no better way then to start off with Birdhouse in Your Soul. That song was familiar to me, but I was not aware it was by They Might be Giants. What makes these songs so great is the amount of production that went into the record. The brass instruments and violin bring lots of life and energy to the listener. I really enjoyed the silliness in the lyrics, and it was great how they were still quality songs. The flow of this album is spectacular as well. Both the singers have great voices, so just another bonus. I found little weakness in this album.

BrokeNCYDE - I'm Not a Fan, But the Kids Like It!
They're the only "crunkcore" group I've ever heard of and if their the best representation of this genre then it sure is a shitty genre. All their song titles are about creative as their music. FreaXXX is the perfect example of having shitty vocals, an off beat, and horrible screamo as backing vocals. The album actually gets worse... Get Crunk! is a joke to mankind. I remember hearing about them get booed off the stage at Warped Tours, but I think more people actually like them now. 600,000 likes on facebook wtf.

Hahahaha. But wait, it's still half a point better than Sunn O)))?

So I saw Metric in Brooklyn a couple years ago, and this girl behind me was wearing a brokeNCYDE bracelet over her wrist scars.
