While I disagree that their new stuff holds up well with their best older stuff, I don't think the money would be there for them. Their cheapest ticket at Gibson was 100+, which means that the minimum gross was likely 750k. I doubt PT can or desires to match that. Plus, adding Rush likely adds limited cachet, again not justifying an outlay in the range necessary to book them with the radius requirement. In short, not enough bang for the buck and vice versa.
And I thought Canadians were very nice people
Thanks for that bit of information, man.
Shit, I totally forgot about the Big 4 show in 2011.
lul, really?
It being on the Polo Fields, yeah.
Very well stated. You're right, their newest stuff isn't as strong as Moving Pictures or Permanent Waves, but they've settled into a strong veteren status that justifies playing a lot of the new stuff without boring fans. Their new album would be, in the Rush world, equivalent to Bowie's Heathen or Reality albums, or Radiohead's King of Limbs.

Is this the only "festival"(Sarstock) that RUSH have done in 20-30 years?
They haven't played many festivals. That's one of the reasons I'd like to see them at Coachella...their music in that environment would be killer.
Why is Rush in a "Heavy Metal/Hard Rock" thread
Here's hoping for The Sword...

I'd love to see the Sword there. I think they'd be a great fit. Baroness would also be great - have they played any shows since the bus accident? If not, it'd be awesome to have that first one be at Coachella. I think we'll see QOTSA there as well, and for some reason I remain convinced that Metallica will play. No idea why.
