RIP Donna Summer.
You didn't invent disco, but disco would have been a very different animal without you.

"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."

I was just telling my sister about this. There aren't many celebrity deaths that get me down, but this one does. My sister use to have some of her 45's and we would create dance routines in our bedroom to a few of her songs.![]()
i like your title better. i defer to this tribute thread.
No flippin way!
I love Donna Summer.
RIP![]()

Very sad, esp after Chuck Brown died this week also

That is fucking idiotic, I agree.
When I was like 15 me and my buddies would sit around in our Disco Sucks t-shirts talking about how disco sucked, but then someone would chime in "except Donna Summer, she's cool" and we'd all nod our heads in agreement.
In retrospect, Donna Summer was great and she transcended disco and would have transcended whatever genre she was in. She's way up there with Aretha in my book. So much soul, so much talent.
At a previous job, whenever I was in a bad mood, I would play Donna Summer to cheer me up.
Just for the record, and I'm being serious now--if any of you assholes who were so reverential about MCA act even slightly flippant about Donna Summer passing I will go house on your ass.
I loved this chick. Credit has to be given to anyone who made tracks during a fad genre that became almost universally reviled for a while, but decades later when a whole new style of dance music started sweeping the planet largely powered by sampling small sections of disco tunes for their melodies there's only one artist I can think of who you would hear dropped into the middle of an EDM set with practically no remixing or alteration whatsoever, and that's Donna. Her tunes stayed so universally attractive to the ear that whether it was the 70s, 80s, 90s or today you can mix I Feel Love into the middle of almost any genre of dance music and it still makes the crowd go apeshit. Can't do that with Abba, or The Bee Gees, or Gloria, or most of the other artists who sold millions during the disco era. Something to be said for such remarkable longevity.
Damn. So much raining.
And to think she could be another loss as a result of 9/11 makes it even more tragic.
This fucking blows. There's not many known disco acts that were worth a damn, but Donna Summer was undoubtedly on the top of the heap that were. "I Feel Love" is a top ten song. Hearing DJ Harvey drop a 20 minute version of it on my birthday while tripping my head off in the middle of a completely wild dancefloor this year is now one of my fondest musical memories.
And posting anything shorter than the full length version of "Love To Love You Baby" is bullshit.

This makes me so sad. She was my 4 seasons of love.
I saw her in June 2010 at a local casino - and she was still so fun and talented. She died too soon.
R.I.P. Blessed one.

First Whitney and now someone else I could give a fuck about....
Saw her at San Diego County Fair 2 years ago, just for the hell of it (I was there). Didn't realize this would happen. Had a great time.

My favorite song of yours.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
This is terribly sad. Had no idea she was ill, either.
