Also of course the rules are arbitrary. I am talking about how people act and what people expect, which allow people to interact without endlessly fighting about procedure. We don't really have any stats to work with. We need numbers to calculate a VORP. All I can think of now are threads started with average and median threadlength, and average and maximum thread rating. If I had a few interns I may be able to calculate some thread dwell times and such but thread starting is only one part. I'd want post ratings, responses and quotes and "thanks!" given, etc.
