I'm going to make 1 or 2 mixes to send out if people bail. Shit does happen.

If you have to bail just let me know and it can be sorted out instead of leaving the group hanging.

If you don't send your mix you will be depriving someone. If you don't listen to or acknowledge a mix you receive, you're spoiling the fun. So this means even if you are a saharatard and receive a mix of nothing but 19th century appalachian yodels, you are expected to listen to it and report on it. capeche?
This stern, yet fairly-worded warning should be on page 2 as well.

Also, my mix is coming along nicely - I've made the track selections, sequenced it, and am now deciding whether I should just leave them as individual tracks or if I'm going to attempt to mix them all together. I've also asked my fiance to help with the "album art," as she is much more artistically inclined than I am.

And thus Tom has provided me with a fantastic idea for a mix.

I haven't a theme, but the progression of tracks is fucking sweet. I actually have a themed mix going as well. Gametime decision.

So I have a first draft that I like a lot. It's 19 songs in 75 minutes, so it's pretty much maxed out, and I'm pissed about stuff I couldn't include that fit my theme and that I really like.

If you would like to participate in the inaugural exchange please email your username, name, and address to coachellamixtapes@gmail.com

    Example of email:

Your info will only be seen by myself and the board member sending you a mix, and then deleted once the round is over.

The sign up period will be from today May 1st - May 15th. In this time you should be making your mix! Don't wait to find out who you're going to get and tailor it towards them (or you can but don't be late). Two weeks is plenty of time to sign up and make a mix, you can do it!

On May 16th I will contact everyone through email with who they will be sending their mix to. I would like you all to mail your mixes out by May 23rd. That way everyone can have their mixes by the end of the month, and we could potentially start the next round June 1st. We'll see how that goes.
Why is this something that requires a physical address and real name? Seems unecessary. Wouldn't having everyone just upload their mixes to a file hosting site and then sending them a pleasant e-mail with a download link be both easier and safer?

I can't speak for everybody else, but that sounds a lot less enjoyable to me and I probably wouldn't sign up for it. Packaging my mix is half the fun.

because that defeats the entire fucking point. if you're really afraid of interacting with people on a personal level, don't contribute. many people here meet erach other in real life - we've done these exchanges before, we do multiple types of secret santa exchanges, etc etc. If you look at the previous incarnation of this, people went all out with awesome packaging and made it a really fun, cool thing in the mail.

Don't worry, there are not THAT many murderers on the board.

if you just want to listen to people's mixes, I'm sure everyone will be encouraged to post links to the ones they sent out after the physical copy has been received and listened by the recipient.

Although mixes online would be faster, nothing compares to throwing a cd in a car and leaving it there because its such a good mix. I believe more people are more likely to listen to a physical copy of a mix rather than a digital one, that would most likely collect digital dust while lost in the downloads folder.

Have it sent to a PO box or your neighbor "accidently" if you are really concerned. Worst I can imagine is a boardie shows up uninvited and drinks all your beer while mocking your music tastes and going on a Zach Hill rant. I guess death would be better.

But really, I do realize the concern and will be deleting it all after I send out matchups. If you dont want to include your full name thats fine. The mail man is just going to be confused as fuck when he delivers a package to Sir Drinkey McDrinkerstein.

Fuck. I was hoping to skate by this time without doing any kind of fancy packaging. Balls.

nah, yo don't HAVE to do fancy packaging! it's fun enough just to get a cd in the mail.

I really want to do packaging but i might not have time as i'm working a lot and getting ready for my trip.

I once got a personally drawn album cover by guedita. That I will sell when she goes out in Thomas Kinkade blaze of glory, or hang in the office of my own real estate firm, whichever happens first.
