That sounds like a joke.
.
Why are the XX being thrown around as potential Saturday headliners, and not Sunday? Am I missing something?
Weekend 1
Friday: Blur, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Earl Sweatshirt, Jamie XX
Saturday: Phoenix, The xx, Postal Service, New Order, Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, Descendents, Violent Femmes, Bat For Lashes, Danny Brown
Sunday: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Wu-Tang Clan, James Blake, Grimes, Dinosaur Jr., OMD, Cloud Nothings
Coachella 2004, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013.
I think people are throwing around the idea of The XX headlining Sat of TIMF because the new album is supposed to be more dancey, according to interviews: http://pitchfork.com/features/update/8855-the-xx/
I think they would be better suited to Sunday, or the second to last spot on Saturday, but that's just my opinion, we shall see when this lineup comes out(hopefully soon?)
The new xx is supposedly going to be an electronic album.
edit: alright so that is been covered
Looks like metric is out. They have a show at the great american music hall. Not sure when, but they are giving away tickets with a purchase of their album at rasputins

oops. I meant next week. still.
I didn't suggest I want them there.
I wouldn't say it's impossible. I would think that passing through on a real tour in june makes them less like to come back in october, but I don't think that TI can command a radius clause of 3+ months prior. I may be wrong though. if anyone with more inside knowledge knows better feel free to shoot me down.
I watched a video of The xx at primavera performing "Crystallised" and they actually slow it down and play it even softer! Oofta!

If Friendly Fires wasn't danceable enough for Saturday, there is no way the XX will be. They scream Sunday headliner to me.
If you can't dance to a Friendly Fires performance you are either a communist or lacking limbs and most likely both.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Have we forgotten M83 for Saturday headliner?
Travelfan, that's pretty much what I was saying, if the new XX album (which is scheduled to come out in September) were to be a lot more dancey, couldn't they be in a Chromeo or Cut Copy spot for Saturday? But like I said before, and agree with you, they would be better suited to Sunday.
Also I thought that Friendly Fires would have actually been better suited for Saturday, and it was a choice between not booking them, or getting a Sunday set.
Skyismad, M83 for a Saturday headliner would be really cool! But haven't they been playing in the bay a lot recently? I'm not sure that TIMF would book someone for headliner who has been playing a lot of shows in the area recently. But they will be at ACL on Friday, so that leaves open a possibility for a Saturday performance at TIMF.
Don't have time to confirm this on an official source, but Starfucker might be a possibility for Sat:

EDIT: http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/tour...CD=&countryCD=
That makes it look like they could start the California leg with TIMF!

Looks like there will be no Simian Mobile Disco live set at TIMF... instead they will be at Mezzanine on Dec 1st: https://www.facebook.com/simianmobil...23966167614127
Sigh... I feel like TIMF would be an awesome setting for these guys.
That's a shame. Feel like we might get stuck w/ Crystal Castles.
Really pulling for Orbital.
Cold Cave is playing in LA on 10/20. Doesn't say too much about the prospect of a TI appearance but I'd welcome it.

No SF date right around TI. I have wanted to see Dirty Three since high school so I really hope they show up!
Upcoming shows
Youtube // Facebook // Twitter // Blog // Tumblr // Instagram
Coachella: 04,06,07,09,10,11,12(1),12(2),13(1),13(2)
Presidents of the United States of America 5/25, Tame Impala 5/29, The xx 5/30, EF 6/15, Belle & Sebastian 7/17, The Postal Service 7/26, Jay Z & Justin Timberlake 7/28, Fun. + Tegan & Sara 9/8, GY!BE 9/9&10
Events
Bonnaroo 6/13-16, FYF Fest 8/24-25, Holy Ship!!! 1/9-13
And the Shins, Tegan and Sara, and Beats Antique should be counted out as they are playing the Harmony by the Bay Show at Shoreline in September. Thankfully, because the Shins are terrible live. I thought they were going to be a shoe-in since they played OSL last year (kinda like Empire of the Sun the year before).
True, though that's an awfully small period of time in between shows.
That SMD December tour is crying out for a friday, 12/1 show in LA. Would-be 3 mos gap btw LA shows seems more plausible than would-be 1.5 mos gap btw SF shows.

Assuming The xx were to headline Sunday, consensus is M83 for Saturday headlining slot?
