i had a nice bed in my jeep, fans inside there (14v) and we kept food and drinks frozen or cold (whichever ice chest we put stuff in) wed-monday.
camping is as comfortable as you make it. if your girl is high maintenance, you need to bawss out your design. best of both world would be to have hotel+campsites tho. i had tons of offers, houses, hotels, burton pool party, casino penthouse ect.
i was having way too much fun to even leave my own camp. i want to spend more tine lurking other setups next year.
preying for snowchella next year so we can have ice sculptures lol jk
I've booked a hotel both weekends already but further out than before. But the prices for the two properties haven't been completely jacked up yet. No camping for me, I need a hot shower and sleep. That greatly improves my festival enjoyment. Remember the old days when you could grab a hotel in March or April? Those days are gone. My weekend 1 reservation is in Rancho Mirage 14 miles out from the festival site, 7 miles from the Tennis Garden and that shuttle stop. My weekend 2 reservation is on the shuttle stop line and $160/night for a suite (AAA discount). No deposit, cancel 24 hours prior. I think that's a bargain.
I'm hoping that Valley Music will add shuttle lines or find drive and park locations like the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. I believe it is in the master plan to encourage more to ride the shuttle bus. I wouldn't be surprised to see day parking continue to be squeezed out.
Camping spot + house nearby is the best arrangement ive found so far. We had a house a mile away, but at night it was super nice to be able to pick up jackets, etc at the campground and hang out after hours. Crazy that it is already time to start thinking about lodging.
The hotel we have booked the last two years jacked up their rates by $400/night. Unbelievable.
For your health

I never have a problem booking a condo. This year I didn't think I was going to Coachella until the line up was announced. Booked the condo at the end of January no problem. $800 for Thursday-Monday on a golf course with all the bells and whistles. You just gotta look.
Four Tet - Mohawk - 3/1
Mac Demarco - Mohawk - 4/13
indio motel 6 site has crashed, or something. this is crazy.
Look for the Hilton Garden Inn at Rancho Mirage. It's close to the the Tennis Garden and got a reate of $129.
But if you wait a couple of months you'll be able to snag a great deal through Priceline or Hotwire. This year I stayed at the Doral Desert Resort for $145 p/night and last year at the Westin in Palm Springs for about $155. Like a boss.
EDIT: The only issue with Priceline and Hotwire is that you won't know what hotel you'll getting until you pay for it in full so you have to be familiar with the area and with the star levels. As a rule I try to only book 4 or 5 star hotels thorugh those sites. Also, you can't cancel.
Just booked 2 weekends in April for $99 /night at Indio Motel 6.
Just booked a block of rooms for the entire month of April, just in case.

No, it's about 7 miles. I wouldn't walk.
But it's on the 111 so might be a 10 min taxi ride which shouldn't be that expensive. Also, there's plenty of public transportation on that street during the day, I think the only issue might be how to get back at night.
Thanks. I think am going to stick with the Comfort Inn in Palm Springs since it's walking distance to downtown and the shuttle stop. Plus I stayed in either Palm Desert or Rancho Mirage the last three years so Palm Springs should be a nice change of pace.
Hilton Garden Inn would be a lot closer to the Palm Desert stop at the Albertsons.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn right across the street from that stop this year, but they aren't showing any rooms available for all of April which probably means they are waiting for Coachella to announce the official dates and then they will jack up the rates.
Hilton Garden Inn-Rancho Mirage is the ticket. Stayed here twice before. Just booked again for next year. $119 a night for a room with 2 queen beds. Recently remodeled quiet rooms with room darkening shades. Walking distance to shopping and 24-hr eats.
No it's not near a shuttle stop, so not really a good hotel to book.
thought as much, thanks
We stay at the same place every year and for next year they already have higher rates for the first supposed week and no rooms for the second! I usually just keep checking back and book lower rates as they show up so hopefully that will work for next year. Also spending a week there in July so maybe I can work out a deal then!
And the hotel that I stayed at this year rates are doubled for next year and I booked it at the same time last year.
Palm Springs here I come.
It looks like both the Best Western and Holiday Inn Palm Desert have jacked up their prices for the two most likely weekends. Sucks because they are right across from the shuttle stop.
