That is preferable if you ask me, just tell them to give you a little extra juice next time. Although I have very small sneaky veins so even getting an IV is a challenge anymore. It usually takes a few tries while I lay there trying not to cry.

    Asshole update?
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

    My asshole is fine.

But since the procedure I have been suffering terribly with a sore throat and a river of snot running down the back of my throat. I do not understand this at all, I was fine going in.

Sorry the procedure was a bit of a rough go this time. Hopefully things will go much smoother next time. I am curious why they excised only 3 and not all 4 polyps, though.

I have naturally low blood pressure, so they give me as little sedation as they can, otherwise it drops precipitously during the procedure, which scares the hell out of the doctor, obviously. I wonder if they would have to do that with you as well; maybe it would lessen the danger of apnea? But I'm just speculating here.

They terminated the procedure when I started doing the apnea stuff. They were only 3/4ths done. I get to go back in 3 months so they can finish up.

I have already thought about the 'as little sedation as they can' for the next go round too, esp since it should only take them a few minutes and they don't have to go all the way to the cecum again... I mean they're done with the ascending and transverse, and had done much of the descending already. so not a lot left to go.

Partial sedation is really not bad at all. You're just a bit groggy and you get to watch it happen onscreen in this half-fascinated, half-weirdly detached way. Definitely beats not breathing or having your BP tank. Doctors don't like that much.

I'm sure it'll all be good next time. *thumbs up*

Now I'm wondering whether or not this procedure has the ability to see if one's thumb is up their ass, or not...

Partial sedation only for me today. Awake the whole time. No pain, discomfort or polyps. Over in about 20 minutes. Clean bill of health, was told to "get the hell out". My ass is presently so clean you could eat off it.

My ass won't be clean enough to eat off of until August. I'd better start stocking up on toilet paper.

I also got pictures of everything too with my paperwork. Freakin weird to see. It's a series of four shots- distal rectum, ileo-cecal valve, appendiceal orifice, backs of my teeth.

You know those times where you come back across a post of your own that was made a day or so earlier, and you're all like, "WTF?"

Once you've done it enough times, the shame thing totally goes out the window. But hey, at least I didn't post the pics! I'll let GPS have that honor when he gets his!

Btw, this is in no way meant to make light of Tom's situation. That just plain sucks.

Ahh, I meant shameless in reference to sounding as if Tom's asshole and I were like rose"buds..." As far as my being bashful about my behind? Thanks to past experiences years ago, every time I feel a cough coming on, I have to fight the urge to bend over.

Between aging and my family history with cancer I'm a bit overdue. Just have to get this and a mammogram out of the way later this week. Best of luck to you also!!

Well the procedure is complete, they removed a small polyp that didn't look problematic. It will be sent off for testing but unless it comes back with issues I'm good for the next 5 years. Very grateful to have it over with.

    50.

But if you have a first degree relative with colon cancer, sooner. I had my first at 45; should have been at 40.
