Similarly I'm surprised by the SBTRKT mentions.

I'm a fan of the album but the sound was super muddy at best... and vocals sounded like he was singing too close to the microphone or something... one of my three larger disappointments of the weekend.

If you were up close to the front the sound was perfect. It was really good.

for me, it wasn't an issue with the sound. that goes to jeff mangum and gy!be (i was not up against the rail/near the soundboard for either performance). weeknd just didn't sound good. his singing was sub-par (pitch/tone) and i vividly remember the zone sounding like utter shit (band wasn't that great). i had to stick around for the knowing because i love that song, but i'll have to watch weekend 2 clips to justify whether or not i still like him.

I agree. He sounded really bad, but he's still maturing as an artist, so I have to give him a mulligan here. It seemed like the Outdoor stage had the worst sound problems all weekend. Couldn't hear St Vincent guesting with Andrew Bird at all, Neon Indian sounded off, Weeknd, etc...

I thought The Weeknd was great first weekend despite the less-than-stellar sound, timidness from the band and him, and multiple pitch problems with his singing. He really killed it second weekend though. Much better pitch-wise, the band was on point, and they just seemed so much more relaxed up there. Crowd was into it, Abel was vibing them, sunset. Great set.

Interesting to see how few people have Dre/Snoop on their top 5 compared to Weekend 1. To anyone who went both weekend, was there a big difference between their Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 performances?

Also, I feel like after Weekend 1 a lot of people were extremely surprised by how great The Hives were and a lot of people were talking about them. I don't see that from the Weekend 2 people, was The Hives set lacking energy or something? Did Pelle not compare himself to the sun?

The Hives were Sunday's game winning field goal. They absolutely crushed it.

2. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg [Such a great hit parade. Highlights for me were "The Recipe" with Kendrick Lamar, and the moment where Snoop said something like "This feel good Doc. This feel real good" with genuinely touching sincerity]

4. The Buzzcocks [Big surprise. Only knew a handful of songs, but the band was just fantastic.]

Pretty much. I didn't see the first weekend but the weekend 2 performance was pretty incredible - voice, band, and set progression all seemed bang on and the crowd was loving it.

I'm sorry I had trouble sticking to the prompt, but I couldn't hold myself to five and it was still hard not to mention Dre or Justice, which were a blast, or Wild Flag, who rocked, or Kendrick Lamar or Azaelia Bank who both tore up the mic, or WU LYF or Company Flow who were both awesome for the short bits that I saw, or Beats Antique or Modselektor who both put on crazy awesome shows I had no idea about going into, or Real Estate who's beautiful music fit the scene perfectly, or even M83 who sounded awesome but I was unable to watch because I had to go lay down outside the tent to prevent myself from passing out from the intense amount of dancing I'd been doing as soon as the shows started Friday (luckily I was able to rally for Refused), or Girls, Wolf Gang, Yuck, the Shins, etc. The point of that ridiculous run-on being that it was an awesome weekend and my first Coachella definitely has me hooked.

Where were ya? I was up towards the front and they sounded better than at the Echoplex earlier this year. Plus they were in the perfect environment for their music. I just wish they would realize that they have a few songs that are really, truly incredible, and close with Out of Tune -> It's Real -> Beach Comber. That would be an incredible way to end a set.

Funny I happened to be walking by to go to another set that conflicted with SBTRKT's performance. I stopped when I heard the intro to Wildfire, paused and then started dancing like a lunatic.
I was the Asian girl with the Yankees fitted on dancing alone in the back.
